this already has such an offputting title but it was a good price and i thought since it had been updated it might actually have some useful info. boy was i surprised that instead of helping me get more of an idea about developmental delays or even processing disorder/ learning disabilities it squarely puts the problematic, anxious, underperforming childs issues back on you.the parent.it also says that these "difficult" kids are just temperamentally different from you(the parent)and thats why you find the child difficult.no kidding that all of us have different temperaments.but i enteract with people for a living and even the most difficult persons i encounter are not eventually without something really great that i can bond with them over. so it seems unlikely to me that my very own flesh and blood ends up frustrating me so much that i, given the chance to flip through the book ,would actually use the strategies and tips inside. mainly this is a parenting book.but since it chooses to ignore all the other myriads of reasons your frustrated child may be lashing out i found nothing redeeming about this book at all.no child is that "difficult" without there being something that needs to be explored by trained professionals.they are just little kids not going out of their way to upset you so find out why first and foremost.then way later maybe revisit this and you will probably realize that you are the difficult one in the family. i overreacted to my sons issues and now that i understand the world through his eyes i am still trying to make it up to him.Read full review
Recommended by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Purchased for my Grand daughter, who had a difficult childhood. She is an independent strong young lady. Because of her really poor, dysfunctional upbringing she has very little parenting skills. Dr. Laura knows there are several ways to raise each individual child and this author mirrored her experience. I wanted my grand daughter to see how raising a wonderful child like her the right way could work. So I bought it. Loved It. Now I hope she will use it as her bible.
This book has helped me tremendously! I now better understand my 4 year old's temperament and how it affects her actions. I highly recommend this book (even if you don't have a "difficult" child!)
This book is one of the best books I have read about child rearing. It tells me about my daughter and her temperament. I am learning though this book how to treat her with dignity and respect her. This book could help anyone, even if you think your child is not difficult! (although mine is)
