I bought this cd because I'd seen the series and liked it immensely. Being a fan of heavy music I recognized a lot of it. Before I had not bought a cd in a long time, but I just felt that this would be a good one to start again with. I had been told by another fan of the series that the songs were much changed for the worse on the cd, but personally I can't hear it. To me it sounds like good fun dark metal music and it's played by people who know what they're doing and I don't think they hit a false note ever. That is of course provided you can take the whole thing with a grain of salt. I like both the series and the cd, especially the tuning session on the bonus cd. Love the way they talk! :D I recommend it if you like this kind of music. It's no worse than Burzum :p
It is getting hard to find fresh, original-sounding deathmetal these days that stays close to the genre. It is so surprising to hear a made-for-TV publication succeeding where full-time pros are falling short! It is like the Hannah Montana phenomenon for Deathmetal (an obscure talent chosen for one medium turns out to be SO awesome that it creates an icon in the one SUPPOSEDLY portrayed)! It may be that Dethklok was probably never supposed to be a real band of it's own accord, but the talent behind the story is more real than a LOT of the pretenders claiming to represent full-on, mind-melting, heart-choking, organ-blowing, bone-grinding, hippy-burning, government-frightening, social-order-destroying, absolute anarchists! Play THIS album ear-bleedingly loud at traffic-lights and watch the hippies go into convulsions while the rap/pop gangstas wait fearfully for you to pass!Read full review
THE GREATEST ALBUM I HAVE EVER EVER HEARD!!! Need I say any more? Of course not, but for those of you who don't know about Dethklok I shall cure thee of thy ignorance. All kidding aside, I do belive this may be the greatest album I have EVER heard. This album is based on the show based on making fun of how extravagant and ridiculous metal band often are. For those of you who have seen the show and enjoyed it, this album will be an addiction. For those of you who have'nt had the EXTREME pleasure, the hilarious show "Metalocolypse" is an animated series about the fictional band Dethklok who is the "most rich and famous band in the world." They are near complete morons who have an astounding affinity for musical aptitude. This album "The Dethalbum" is a compilation of songs from the show, off of their fictional albums. The album itself is a joke on metal bands but still has the uncanny strength to overpower you and drag you into the back of it's van of musical awesomeness. It has well assembled and perfectly accompanied musical genius behind it. The music itself sounds, for the most part, like '80s heavy metal but better. The lyrics are where one realizes this album is a joke. Being mostly ridiculous, but always in character of "the greatest metal band in the world", they make much more sense if you've seen the show. They are however brilliant in the manner which the songs are sang, if you can't understand the actual worlds their saying then they sound like regular metal music and it still sounds amazing. Seeing as how the band is actually fictional, for something like this to exist they require some real life help which is rendered by Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha, who also write and produce the show, with Gene Holgan on drums who delivers insane drumming whichrival that of the one and only Joey Jordinson. I just cannot say enough about the excellence of this album and my words could never do it justice. It is an encounter with the gods of music one can only experience for themselves. Unfortunately, as a worldly and greedy man, I have but one complaint for Dethklok, MORE SONGS!! I wish it had a few more song but I can only expect there will be another album after another season or two of the show. Yet still, I must recomend the purchase, listening of, and worshiping of this nugget of musical mastery. (Especially the Deluxe/Limited edition including extra tracks and the music video for "Bloodrocuted" as well as Episode 1, Season 2 of Metalocolpyse)Read full review
I liked the fact that it included the extras such as, the coffe jingle. It also included the first episode of the second season. I would rec. this cd to hard core fans. I personaly liked it but, I also enjoy metal such as: Slipknot, Rob Zombie, etc. If you liked the songs from the show, you will like this cd. It is composed of all the music from the show but, extended, not just 30 seconds of it. If you can buy a couple tracks from itunes and see if it fits your taste.
There's really not a whole lot left to say outside of the title. Metalocalypse is a funny show, and the funniest part of it all is the fake metal songs turned out to be pretty good. The vocals are probably the only thing remotely "deth" about it, which is fine by me. The only bone I have to pick about it all is that many of the songs are fairly short, but it's made up for by having two CDs of more than 20 tracks. It's a great buy, if you can find the 2-disc for a good price.
