As a blues guitarist, this dvd proved to be a very interesting view of Clapton from his first gigs with The Yardbirds to recent solo performances. Black and white video sequences from performances in the 1960's open the production leading to Cream concert footage. These contain some great shots of his Gibson 335 back in the day. The evolution of Eric's hair was almost as entertaining as his development as a solo artist! Phil Collins makes some vintage appearances on drums. The dvd's more modern portions include jams with Tina Turner and several contemporary artists-a very good documentation of Claptons guitar work and vocals-MF
Nice collection of videos spanning Clapton's career through the years. There 3 gems to be noted on this dvd. First the Yardbirds doing 'Louise'. Rare footage of a young EC there. Also, while I wish they had showed the ENTIRE Live Aid version of 'Layla', I did enjoy the split montage of several other performances. Thankfully the montage goes back to Live Aid for the piano coda at the end with the incredible Chris Stainton. The third gem is the live performance of 'Tearing Us Apart' with Tina Turner. To me that installment was worth buying alone.
Great DVD. I NEVER did think it was ever on a DVD just a vhs video tape. Glad i found it. It's like a anthology of Eric. I especially love Eric's live performances over the years especially the 60s, 70s & 80s.
