We love everything about Williamsburg, especially the foods of the past and the history of what people ate back then. we enjoy comparing the recipes in the book to actual meals in the historic district at the colonial taverns.

Purchased this book after visiting Colonial Williamsburg attending a cooking luncheon with John Gonzales. John as the head chef at the Colonial Williamsburg Hotel, after growing up living in Colonial Williamsburg, his fater was a director there. He said this book was written under strict guidlines of the Foundation, and was not as personal as his most recent book "Holiday Fare A Colonial Williamsburg Cookbook". I purchased this book as a after thought and it was much cheaper on ebay. Both are good books for finding historic receipes. It it was a true pleasure to meet John and get his helpful cooking suggestions.
