It is funnier! Old movie brought me cheer and remembered old actors and actress. I'm really enjoyed this movie especially Jackie Chan. Not recommend but worthy to watch for laughs. Bring up popcorn and soda and watch!

This is a good movie to see some older famous actors and that is about it. The charm it brought back in 1981 is completely gone and it has not held up to the test of time. My wife would not stop commenting how BAD this movie is now. Watch classics like THE END or IT'S a MAD, MAD, MAD, WORLD for more humorous entertainment.

In this race/chase comedy, Burt Reynolds is supported by a cast of high profile actors in extended guest roles, all of whom play entrants in a wacky coast-to-coast (illegal) car race. The film has little plot to speak of, just a series of stunts, crashes and broad comedy moments.No-one could ever seriously place this film on their list of all-time classics, but it's not as bad as critics like to claim. Mechanic J.J. McClure (Burt Reynolds) and his schizophrenic buddy Victor (Dom Deluise - who occasionally loses it and transforms into his alter-ego Captain Chaos) enter a car race from New Jersey to California. Fellow entrants include a suave Englishman who thinks he's James Bond (Roger Moore); two con-men disguised as priests (Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr); a womanising sheik (Jamie Farr); a Subaru-driving Japanese stunt-man (Jackie Chan); and a couple of busty bimbos in a Lamborghini (Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman)and Terry Bradshaw(all time Steeler quarterback great). Scenes that work include J.J and Victor landing an aeroplane in a busy street to purchase more beer; the Japanese racers almost crashing because their driver is busy watching porn movies on the in-built TV; the Lamborghini babes repeatedly dodging speeding charges by flashing their (considerable) cleavage at the prosecuting cops; and any of the hilarious out-takes shown over the closing credits. Jack Elam also has some amusing scenes as a very unreliable doctor(proctologist) with a penchant for injecting anaesthetics and wanting to use his finger. The Cannonball Run is loud, broad fun, very easy to watch for a few laughs.Read full review
this totally dated movie is still a fun classic~ The Cannonball Run a coast to coast car rally. Reynolds comes up with the brilliant idea of having his "car' be an ambulance so he can travel fast~ and not get stopped along the way. complete with rent a doctor (Proctologist) and "patient" kidnapped Farrah Fawcett we have a ball watching this. Starts a little slow but the complete lunacy of the other Rally Cars complete with sexy women and Guest stars (Dean Martin Sammy Davis Junior) and many more add to the fun rally scenes. the BEST part of the movie is the END credits one of the first movies to brilliantly show the OUT TAKES during the final credits~ worth the watch to see them~ this movie is as entertaining for women as men. Very dated today but the humor is timeless~ I give it a solid 8 out of 10 for funny~ IF THIS REVIEW WAS HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE~Read full review
I love slapstick and comedy in general. Cannonball Run has been a favorite since I first saw it on the big screen at the picture show oh so many years ago! Fast cars, lovely ladies, great gags and jokes. You can tell the actors had a great time filming and had no problem making a little fun of them selfs and/or the other movies they had been in. Like Burt thinking out loud saying "I could use a black Trans Am! No, that's been done." It is always fun to see the "headman" have to admit that he can't really get along without his bumbling sidekick, no matter how many mistakes and headaches they cause. Plus one of the last times Dean Martin and Sammy Davis jr. were on screen together and playing partners. Go Rat Pack! I haven't seen the uncut version for so long it will seem like the first time and I'm looking forward to it. I've been long past due adding this favorite to my collection. If you are looking for some good laughs, great cars and car stunts, and a fight scene where more punchlines are thrown than punches, then this one is an excellent choice!Read full review
