This film, written by Dalton Trumbo under a pseudonym while he was on the Hollywood Blacklist, is a arcane bit of movie history. It won an Oscar for "Robert Rich", who didn't exist. So, for a movie buff, this is a must-see. It's a B movie with a great script. It's the story of a boy and his bull, who live and work on a wealthy nobleman's estate. When the nobleman dies in a car accident, the bull is mistakenly sold to become the prize for a matador in the bullring. The story is about the boy's efforts to get his bull back. The story could swing easily into maudlin sentimentality, but it doesn't. The boy follows the bull to the branding, to the auction, and to the bullring. In the hands of a skilled writer, it's an authentic ending which doesn't disappoint. Well worth seeing - I bought this and then donated it to the local library so others could see it as well. Acting, directing... eh, it's B movie! Read full review

I watched this movie as a kid. I knew it was a good movie, but watching it as an adult was a differnt experience. I love that it gives the old feel of Mexico. And it shows the love a child can have for an animal. True love exists at any age.
