If you are a fan of William Alexander Abbott and Louis Francis Cristillo or just mildly interested in finding out about this successful comedy team of the 1940's, this is the set to buy. It contains their first and best films. Good supporting players didn't hurt either. In these 8 films they worked with such performers as Nat Pendleton, Dick Powell, the Andrews Sisters, Joan Davis, William Frawley, Lionel Atwill, William Demarest, and 2 of the best-Martha Raye and Shemp Howard. The liner notes are a little misleading, though. It says they became a team in 1931. Not true. Their teaming didn't occur until 1935 or 1936. I also can't agree that they were "undeniably the most popular comedy team of all time!". In my opinion, that honor goes to Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. But this set is still worth buying and watching.Read full review

It’s been a tradition to watch hold that ghost on Halloween. Couldn’t get ahold of it this year to rent or buy retail. Found on eBay, has it in a few days like new condition. Happy ending

I Really Enjoy Watching the Comedy Teams of our Earlier Era. They had the Ability to Create Humor just by the Way They Protrayed the Characters that They Created. I can relieve a Lot of Stress just by letting Myself Sit Back and let Their Shows take Me to another Place for a While. Also the Innocence of Their Generation is very Appealing to Me at this Point in My Life. It would have been Nice if People had stayed more like these Earlier Times when Care for Others was Genuine and a Handshake was all You needed to Seal a Deal. I envy the way Families were Protrayed and everyone was Respectful of Each Other. A Lot can be Learned from these Shows.
I am a huge fan of the old Abbott and Costello movies. When I learned that Universal was releasing their movies on multi-packed DVD's, I was elated. I have Vol.1, 3 and 4 already. These are superbly made DVD's with menus, Production notes and trailers. I'm hoping to buy Vol. 2 very soon to complete my collection of Abbott and Costello DVD's. The only two movies not included in this DVD collection is "It Ain't Hay" and "Meet Captain Kidd." Hopefully these will be included soon!
