Being that this was Steve Berry's first book and I read his books out of order, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was as well-written as his more recent outings. I read Berry's other three books before reading this and the only fault that I can find in this book is that he has outdone himself with each subsequent release. Basically, because he has gotten so good at the thriller genre, he makes his older books seem a little less impressive; thankfully, this book was still excellent. It kept me on edge from start to finish. This book was just another example of his unique writing style that keeps the reader entertained and enthralled from cover to cover. I cannot wait for Berry's next book. I am now a life-long Steve Berry fan. An excellent read with unexpected plot twists, vivid descriptions and excellent character development. Just shy of a 5/5 I would rate this as a 4.5/5Read full review
I feel this was a well written mystery adventure story about a woman who is pulled into a search for a elusive hidden treasure, The Amber Room. Expertly carved wall panels made of Amber from the 18th century that were stolen & hidden by the Nazi's in WWII. (fiction plot). However, even after all these years someone is willing to kill to keep them from being discovered. Well written, moderate language. Nice Sunday afternoon read.
Steve Berry is an amazing writer. He takes you on a quick history lesson with the thrill of a really great cat and mouse game. If you like the storyline of a "spy" novel mixed with history you will absolutely love this book.
I Thought this was a true thriller. I love how history is mixed with fact and fiction. I am a history buff and the facts are accurate. I have read 2 of this later stories, and this on is right up with the other Steve Berry books. I am now a great fan of Berry. You will diffently love this book!!!!
Recently discovered this author and now am hooked on all his books. Highly recommend this book to all.
