this is the most pathetic text book i have ever used. it seems to be written by a novice with no actual knowledge of adolescents. in one portion of the book there is a quiz on how much you know of HIV. it asks - can you get aids by holding hands? UM. i'm pretty sure i learned that in 4th grade. i'm in graduate school and it's insulting to be asked to read a book like this. i really hope this book get recalled because it is a waste of time for anyone in college or post grad. i have never been so put off by a book from a class. i didn't know a book like this could actually get published and used for a class. my teacher must be partially to blame for selecting such a book. if this is ever on your syllabus - DROP THE CLASS! there is not one thing about this book like i like or find worthy. it's pure embarrassment.Read full review
I really like this book. The way that the publisher set it up is really helpful along with the pictures that he/she put in it. I guess it helps that I am very interested in adolescent psychology anyway! I bought this book because I needed it for a class I am taking at my college. I don't think I will need it much now that I think of it, but I may keep it just to read in the future.
This was a required textbook for the course in Education at CCNY. It was fairly concise; sometimes had distractors in the text that referenced other material. I prefer my references at the end of the chapter. Anyway it was very well organized and complete for this introduction about how children develop mainly and less about how they learn, in the classroom.
I bought this book because it is required for a class I am taking. It is very imformative and interesting.
