Like most people I don't seem to have much time for a lot of prep work for a big meal so I depend on my slow cooker more and more. I have several slow cooker cookbooks and have found some favorite recipes in each. This slow-cooker cookbook has some really beautiful finished product photos which a lot of the others do not have. It is easy to read and use which is important when you want to get the stuff into your slow cooker fast. The Chicken Taco recipe was very good and I will be making that again. Several recipes I probably would not try due to personal preference, but if you can find at least half a dozen recipes that you'll use again and again from a cookbook then it is a keeper.
I love to use the slow cooker when preparing meals. I can leave the slow cooker alone and complete other chores around the house. I was looking for a cookbook that had easy to follow instructions. The "150 best Slow Cooker recipes" cookbook includes a wide variety of recipes which appeals to the many varied tastes of my family. One of my family's favorites "Classic French Onion Soup" was especially appetizing on one of the cooler evenings in April. As with most of the recipes in the slow cooker cookbook, the tips are very helpful in the preparation of these recipes. The "Easy Pot Roast with Rich Tomato Gravy" was a big hit with my family at Easter time; the roast made great schooltime lunchbox sandwiches too. The biggest hit so far is the "Old South Pulled Pork on a Bun." Following the tip guides, I prepared some of the recipe one Friday night and on Saturday, we enjoyed the sandwiches at the lake. The grandkids really enjoyed the "Chicken Enchiladas"; the youngest grandson wants this to be part of his birthday party. It was a big hit!!! Our favorite dessert is cheesecake. I prepared the "Chocolacinno Cheesecake" for Sunday dessert. I have a bread and cake pan made for slow cookers and this cheesecake came out moist and oh-so-delicious. My family raved over its delicate and rich taste. Another family hit!! My grandkids love shrimp and crab..so the recipes for "Zesty Crab Spread" and "Sizzling Shrimp and Dill Pickle Dip" were the hit of our Friday night sleepover. They had not experienced the art of fondue; so when I brought out the fondue pot and the fondue forks, they really had a great time. Now fondue is one of their favorites because they get to "cook" their own food. This cookbook has produced some great times with family and friends around the table and I think these recipes will bring more good times in the future. I highly recommend "The 150 best Slow Cooker recipes" by Judith Finslayson to anyone who enjoys cooking or for anyone who has a busy schedule. This cookbook will be a great addition to any cook's library!!! dad326Read full review
