I purchased this product to fill the gaps left when I glued pre-formed plastic pieces to a Guillow's balsa wood model of a DC-3. I found it to be a terrific product, easy to use and easy to, well, contour. After applying the putty from the tube to the area to be filled, I waited two or three minutes and then smoothed it out using a cotton swab dipped in acetone as was suggested elsewhere in these reviews...the putty conformed to the needed shapes and was dry in twenty minutes...although I did leave it to set up overnight in most cases. The plastic on my model was unaffected by the acetone, but it might be prudent to test it on a scrap of plastic from your model before you commit to this technique. Alcohol on a swab removed excess dried putty from the plastic parts without disturbing the dried putty surfaces on the model. The next day, again armed with aceton on a swab, I 'sanded' the putty to remove small bumps and to smooth small pits using aceton and swabs again...the acetone re-melts the dried putty and when it hardens (in just a minute or two) the surface was smooth enough that it required no sanding with actual grit. Is it durable? I don't know, as I am only a few weeks into this phase of the project...but I will tell you that it filled gaps up to 1/4" wide with no problem...I applied multiple layers within ten minutes or so to these areas and then smoothed it out as described above. No shrinkage as it dried...it stayed right where I put it and dried beautifully. There may be other putties that work as well, but I have no qualms about recommending the Testor's product to any modeler. With all the negative comments and vitriol hurled at Testors by other reviewers, I would be willing to bet they are trolls hyping their own products by knocking the Testor's putty. Fixing rust holes in your car's fender? Use Bondo. Fixing small imperfections in your model? Use Testor's Contour Putty. Happy modeling! [drop mic] LarryinDurangoRead full review

Works sooo good I'm going to order at least 4 more tubes. Great for shaping and hiding blemishes, screw-ups and making your model look smart and professional. Should have had this YEARS ago. Would have saved me so much trouble and grief.

this putty works great for crack filling and problem areas on my model ship and aircraft projects. Testors is a name well accepted in model building kits and supplies.
