Part 2 of the Circle Trilogy is good. Obviously, it is a must read as a part of the Circle Trilogy. The main character continues his travels between the real world and the dream world ("Black", the 1st book in the trilogy, sets up the fact that the main character lives in 2 worlds; one when he is awake here, and another when he is asleep here.) DO NOT TRY READING THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE TRILOGY! YOU MUST READ "BLACK" FIRST TO TRULY UNDERSTAND AND ENJOY "RED". Overall, I wouldn't give this book as much credit as the first or the third, but it was a good middle book. The 2nd book in any trilogy is always the most difficult to write. The author is presented with the problem of starting where there is not really a start, and ending where there is not a true ending. Dekker does keep the story moving with more of his legendary plot twists, deep character development (I actually felt like I knew these people personally by the middle of this book), and taut suspense. In the dream world, this book presents the sacrifice of the character that represents Christ; just as with the 1st book, however, don't let the fact that this book is characterized as "christian fiction" bother you if you are not a "christian". The books stand alone without the Christ metaphors, but if you are a christian, it does present an intersting metaphorical spin on the sacrifice that Christ made at the cross. In the real world, the development of the virus is further explained and there is far more information regarding the who, why and how about the "bad guys". Writing "Red" must have been a formidable task, but Dekker continues the story with great panache and maintains your interest as he leads you to the climactic finish in "White", the final installment of the trilogy.Read full review

Ted Dekker is a great writer. I couldn't put it down. This is the second book in the Circle Trilogy. It ups the suspense from the first book. Everyone should read this trilogy.
