I purchased a set of 09 TM burner irons 4-AW and I have to say that they are the best irons that I have ever bought. (I have played 13 different sets) I have always had trouble hitting the long irons (6, 5, 4, 3) in any set. Hybrid clubs have replaced my 3 and 4 iron. However, I do not want to replace my 5 and 6 iron with hybrid clubs because it would make my set look like I'm a 25 handicap golfer!!! My solution was to replace the 6 and 5 iron with a "super-game improvement" iron (i.e. cgb max irons) I typically hate the thick topline associated with a game improvement iron. Also, I am not fond of seeing anything behind the top line (large sole that protrudes and is visible at address). Although the topline is pretty thick, TM does a good job with the finish to make it appear smaller. Also, there is no visible sole at address. Overall performance of the club is great. It does what I need it to do..............make a long iron easy to hit and easy to get in the air. My miss with this club is a hook due to the larger offset. Misses are also very forgiven. My biggest complaint with this club is the "feel". I don't know if this is how a super game improvement iron is supposed to feel or if it's just my swing, but it's more "harsh" upon contact. Nothing like the blades of old that would make your hands go numb if you hit it fat, but still not the buttery soft feel of flushing the 09 burner. In conclusion, if you have the same problem as me with the longer irons in your bag..............this would solve your problem.Read full review
Oversized face and very forgiving. These clubs have a lower center of gravity and a larger sweet spot. They are a degree or two lower then other similar clubs causing you to hit each club about 1 club length or 10 yards further. Highly recommended. You can pickup single demo 6-iron for around $25 and decide for yourself. If you don't like it you can always resell it for the same amount.
The club is very easy to hit. Love the weight. Very forgiving. Great feel. Increased yardage over my previously used 6 iron (Wilson Staff Gooseneck - Tour Blade). Overall rating: Excellent
feel great,i like how it feel of the face and distance and control.i would recommended to anyone who's like taylormade r7 cgb max..to bad it is hard to find a complete set now a day but overall can't beat it. best clubs i have never play in years.i would like to see taylormade bring it back for a fair price.
This line of clubs by TaylorMade are by far the best irons ever made. They are light, which gives distance, very forgiving due to the design. The titanium face never shows wear. They are expensive. Quality cost extra.
