I came to be hooked to FCT (Flight Control Technology) and bought a new Supertri. I found "Head made in China", "Shaft made in China" and "Assembled in China" at the sticker at the bottom of the shaft. I thought it might be a "fake" or an "OEM" because I thought TM drivers were assembled in USA. I confirmed that Supertris at Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith are with the same sticker. TM drivers are now 100% made-in-China!!! Anyhow, the club looks good with black colors, and feels comfortable at address. Motore 60 R flex shaft works looks good, but the ball flight is just higher without adding any distance. I tried to lower the ball flight using FCT. The ball flight was high at N position, and I had to make fade shots moving from N to R making fade shots. Now it is time for TLC (TM Launch Control) using movable weights. I installed 16g weight at the heel promoting draw and FCT at N + 1 right. I got the right direction and trajectory. FCT plus TLC makes a little magic to my driver shots. I used not to pay attention to "new technology" in golf clubs, but Supertri impressed me. One thing still bothers me is Motore R shaft. I don't know how different the TM Motore is from aftermarket Fujikura Motore, but I cannot vote for the factory installed Motore. Simply it launched balls to high!!!Read full review
I hit a friends Supertri and smoked it by my 2009 Burner by about 30 yards each time so I purchased the exact same club on Ebay for a fraction of the retail price. I played around with it until I found the optimum setting for me. This was a 10.5 degree Fujikura Motore 60 R-Flex shaft. I hit the ball well and it appeared to be about 10 yards longer than my Burner on the range. However, when I got on the course, I hit it higher than my Burner and was not as consistent in hitting fairways. I adjusted it to a neutral setting for the next round and the performance was pretty much the same. The thing that bothered me more than anything else was that the unit had a heavy feel to it (almost like a stiff shaft). A friend of mine played a round with it and wanted it so I sold it to him at a loss of abut $60.00. He is happy as a pig and I will happily hang on to my Burner for a while longer. My handicap index is 10.8. I definitely recommend the club to anyone looking for a little more distance but suggest that you do a little research on what shaft is best for you in this unit. I was club fitted by a Taylormade rep for this club. The club gives me about 25 more yards in distance than my Titleist driver with a regular shaft. I also have the option of adjusting the shaft if I am having a bad day with my swing. Instead of slicing it, I can adjust it to a straighter line by opening or closing the clubface with the shaft adjustment. Technology has come a long way to help the average golfer. Before buying the club I recommend you swing the club and find out what shaft and loft gives you the best results. I am very happy with this driver.
I had my current driver about 5 years. I played with someone with a r7 about a year older than me who hit it a couple of times about 250+ yards. I am 66. About two weeks later I played with someone who had a R9 and he let me hit it. Felt very solid. I purchased on eBay for $219 9.5 degree with REG shaft. I played in neutral for two weeks, then tried moving the weights to get a draw, but the hits felt bad with the weights moved. I now have the NU position and have eliminated the occasional fade. I may try adjusting furthur to see if I can get a bit more draw .
After 4-rounds, all my hits with this club are a little straighter and a little longer than with my previous driver. It feels very comfortable and has good sound when hitting. I haven't yet tried adjusting the head settings away from the neutral settings, because I'm hitting it well as is.
