Very little practical information on the art of making tamales. I have been eating tamales my entire life having grown up in Arizona where they were available, hand-made, and totally enjoyable in social events as well as part of a feast. When I bought this book I was looking for ideas that were not traditional and already had compiled some ideas of my own and was looking for something that was inspiring. What I felt was that this is an ego trip for the authors and of no assistance in creativity for others. "Tamales 101" is a better springboard for my needs. If you are looking for interesting reading I think you might enjoy this but if you want to make tamales look for another book. This is the first "1" rating that I can remember giving, so will be looking for a home for the book.
It is a good starter book for someone wanting to learn to make tamales.

Tamales are one of the most under-rated foods around. Nothing is more delicious than a well made tamale. I've gone in search of the "perfect tamale", and this book is a great start. This is a treasure trove of tantalizing tamale recipes. The reading is mouth watering, the eating is even better! There is a whole array of tempting tamales that will keep you busy and thoroughly satisfied for a long time. An excellent book -- Ruth
Has relatively easy recipes that look good!
