A MUST READ FOR ALL WOMEN!!!! This book explains how the female body prepares for menstruation, ovulation, and conception. It gives a deeper understanding of how the body works- fascinating! This is an EXCELLENT resource for women (and men) to practice natural family planning. No barrier methods. No synthetic hormones. This method does, however, require CONSISTENCY. This book teaches the "rules" for natural family planning- how to monitor the body's signals leading up to ovulation, when are the best days for achieving conception, how to truly know one's own body- when things are going as they should and when they are not. This is an excellent resource for women wanting to get pregnant and for women who don't wish to become pregnant. The theme of the book is not just about pregnancy achievement (although that is the major theme). It is also about knowing one's body and being in tune with the body's signals regarding menstruation, ovulation, and reproduction. This is complete with resources, appendixes, glossary, illustrations, and charts. I highly recommend this book. While our results will not be everyone else's, we achieved a pregnancy in less than 3 months. My friend who recommended this book achieved a pregnancy in one month. Again, everyone's results will differ, but this is especially helpful for women with irregular cycles to pinpoint optimum days for conception, as women with irregular cycles have fewer chances statistically to get pregnant. This is a scientific analysis and journal developed in 383 pages with ILLUSTRATIONS. In her book, Weschler talks to women who want to become pregnant about their FERTILITY SIGNS. It helps to study the mechanics of reproduction and, especially, for women wanting to get pregnant. On the flip-side, it helps those who need to put-off having children with clinical information that gives them control over their bodies. Originally, my idea was to better understand why it is that some women trying to become pregnant do not conceive until they've adopted a child or have just given-up on the fulfillment. I am AMAZED at the details and mechanics of conceiving! How could I not know this, a grown woman with two adult children and a couple of miscarriages, that somebody "out there" was identifying the secrets of childbirth? HERE ARE HIGHLIGHTS OF INTEREST: Identify Miscarriage vs Infertility (p23) Male Fertility & Advice to Challenge (p144) Best Strategy For Low Sperm Count Partner (p148) Observe and Chart Fertility Signs (Chapter 6) This EXTREMELY challenging study journal is written by a women's health EDUCATOR and SPEAKER. She has a MASTER'S DEGREE in PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH). She founded Fertility Awareness Counseling and Training Seminars and has lectured at hospitals, clinics, and universities since 1982. Weschler says, "Enjoy highly effective and scientifically proven birth control without chemicals or devices."Read full review
I decided to buy this book to learn an alternative to chemical birth control. The information I found in it was extremely helpful not only how to prevent pregnancy for now, but also how to know when I will be most fertile when I want to become pregnant. The book is not a boring read. It is very interesting and the author is great at keeping your attention with stories of couples in about every situation to help you understand the real life applications. I would recommend this book to every woman in the fertile age range.
I got this book because it talks about using fertility awareness when you aren't having regular cycles. I'm currently breastfeeding but unable to use LAM because of my son's age. I haven't been able to find much information on fertility awareness during breastfeeding, so I was quite impressed when this book had an appendix on anovulatory phases and another on breastfeeding. I thought that much of the general information in the book would be a review for me, and much of it was, but she also goes into menopause and the phase shortly before it. I didn't know anything about that before. I really like how she includes information on all the normal stages of a woman's fertility - from the teen years through menopause and most particularly including breastfeeding. The bulk of the book is primarily geared towards women who are not going through any special phase and provides information on pregnancy avoidance and pregnancy achievement.Read full review
I love this book. Not only because we have been trying to get pregnant, but also because it made me more aware of my body and what it does each month. I started charting after reading this book and it has only been one month, but so far it is fasinating to watch how the temperature of my body falls and rises because of my cycle. Hopefully this book will help me in my "quest" of getting pregnant. At least it will help make me more aware of the signs of ovulation so that we can achieve success. It was also very comical at times which kept my attention.
