It is very handy to take along on trips, vacation and around the home to hear the news, music, or even shortwave from around the wold.

These little radios, the TIVDIO V-111 are very nice looking and the case is very sturdy and rugged. The 2 required AA batteries last a long time and the sound is surprisingly good for such a small radio. That is about it for the good news, unfortunately the bad is really bad. The shortwave function is totally worthless even with an external antenna antenna clipped to the small telescoping antenna. Part of the problem is the generation of spurious frequencies in the radios circuitry which overrides any shortwave signals, and there is apparently no RF amplifier stage for the shortwave function, thus very poor sensitivity. If you want more than one of these little radios in working condition then double your order. I ordered a total of 4 in 2 separate orders. Of the 4 radios only 2 of 4 worked properly. One had a bad tuning button and another would pick up only 1 station on AM. That is pretty bad odds of receiving a good one. The V-111 also has a frustrating learning curve for operation. The battery life is good, the volume should have been louder. It did not receive the signal from an fm transmiter. Hard to figure out how to program the presets. In this day and age good radios are expensive.

It's a great buy for sound, features, and reception. My only issue is, I can't turn off the , "Sleep" feature, so it turns off every 90 minutes,

I don’t know really how to put it right- when you buy receiver you expect that it will not be worse than your 20 years old transistor radio but in fact my old ge 7-2880b receiver is WAY better.. If you want to have good radio buy the vintage one on ebay the only one advantage of this radio is the size-weight. i also compared this radio with my cassete sony walkman with radio- sony wins too.
