what I love about them is they are new, and when you do hit them correctly it feels great and the ball just soars. however if you dont hit them fairly consistantly, they are not overly forgiving. much more fogiving for me than the 962s were, but they were old an wore out when I got those, so hard to really compair. they tend to produce a lower ball flight from the middle of my stance, but a high one when just a touch forward, so the distance gets hard to judge. for them to match up with the 962s, I have to hit them lower, for the the distance to match. which tends to make fat hits a problem, and in comes the unforgiveness, but that holds true to every club if you hit it fat. I am still getting used to them though so this still may be a premature review. but if you have 962s, these almost match the profile exactly, and all the numbers seem to match up in tech land. these are are 2 step improvement to the 962s. I was about a 10-12 handicap, and I think these have me down to a 6-8, so far. If I could chip and putt consistantly, it would be better, but we all know how that is.. but definately a different iron game now. I highly recommend them to one who has a consistant swing, these have s300 shafts, so that may explain the kick point being further toward my front foot, at least my kick point. a fast swing helps I think, I hit my driver around 280(r7 quad), so that should relate swing speed, I hope. I dont know if a high handicapper would benifit from these as much though. Unless you are from the learn to play with great clubs, and the rest will come easier school. which I think I finally joined, definately worth a try if you can find some-Read full review
I'm a 3 handicap. I recently had been playing Taylor Made r7 TPs but I wasn't happy with the performance or the feel. I began looking around the Bay for some forged Titleists in good shape. These came to me with nice grooves and dynamic gold s300s. I'd read all the reviews on these sticks before I got them and I'll have to agree with a few things. They do feel heavier than some other irons but I really believe that once you get used to the heft of the irons it will help slow you down and improve your tempo. I know it did mine. The first day I played them on the course I played the back tees at a very penal course and shot a high score (85). I did hit a few solid shots with the irons but also some clunkers. However, I was asked to play the next day and played at a private country club that I play very rarely and to make a long story short shot the best round of the year (72) with my most accurate iron play in months. Most every iron shot I hit were solid and right down my line! Now, other reviewers have said that these are not particularly long distance wise however I believe that if your swing is grooved and you have a high ss with irons they will go. Right now, for me, I'm having success just swinging nice and slow and controlled and letting the club do the work. I'm grooving my distances with a controlled swing. These heads will help you work the ball also. I was forced to hit a cut shot around a tree within my 72 round as a result of a pushed driver off the tee. I opened up the blade, pointed it at the pin and opened my stance enough to miss the tree. Swinging down my stance line the ball curved beautifully around the tree and tracked straight for the pin, exactly the way I had envisioned the shot. In a nutshell, if you have a solid swing and are a decent ball striker these will allow you to perfect your tempo and hit the ball the way you want to. I'd love to find a new set at a good price. I'd probably have to buy a new set.Read full review
These irons are obviously for lower handicapped players, that being said, these clubs are just awesome. I played AP2s last season, and I love these and would pick them up over the AP2s any day of the week. The feel is great, the workability is second to none, and they look beautiful at address. I cant believe that they would change the design of these clubs, why change something that works so well. I got these used and in better condition than I left my AP2s. I love these and am considering buying a second set for when I wear these out. You will not regret purchasing these irons!
I Bought these to upgrade from my DCI 762's and was not as happy as I thought I would be they are easy to hit and solid but everytime I set up with them they gave me a sensation that I had to hit a hook into the green. At set up they felt like I had to play the ball further back in stance and there for creating an even further right to left shot I like to work the ball both ways but between the slight offset and the X100 shafts I no longer had the cut shot or high fade it eliminated my left to right game. Clubs are solid and easy to hit if you like the right to left shot (draws or hooks) I thought they were similar to the DCI 762's but I dont think either of these 2 clubs were as nice as the DCI 962b or 962 with the 962's I had every shot including the knock down cut the shandelle cut 2 of my favorate shots to hit.Read full review
These clubs are very nice and surprisingly easy toi hit for a forged iron. Since they are cavity back they give you all of the benefits of a cast club with the soft feel of a forged iron. The Project X shaft are wonderful if you are a fast swinger. They really help make it so you can feel the club head. I tried many other clubs before deciding on the 704.CB's, but these are by far the best feeling irons I have hit in the better player/game improvement category.
