I LOVED the Thundercats as a kid (and still do today). Over the last 6 years I have spent WAY too much money on "homemade", "bootleg" Thunrdercats VHS and DVD sets. I just wanted to have those episodes again...but the quality was always pretty poor. I am so glad that FINALLY, someone has made official DVD sets of the Thundercats episodes. Now, this new DVD set is of course, top rate quality in terms of sound and picture. It's just like seeing them on tv, but better (no commercials). I am not here to tell you how great the Thundercats are, or how interesting the characters are, or how much I liked the series...I am here to report on the DVD set itself. That's the point of this review. The cover's pictureis a hologram, featuring movement, of Lion-o, brandishing his mighty Sword of Omens and flashing the Thundercats symbol into the sky. Although compared to the Season 1, Part 2 DVD box set's cover, this one seems clumsy...movement is not smooth and the picture of Lion-o isn't as nice. Same goes for the artwork on each DVD case. The characters look...not quite right. I am an artist myself and highly critical of character design. Whoever drew these Thundercats (on the boxes) just didn't have quite the right touch. The episodes are all in order and great quality, but there are no extras. The point of getting DVD sets is not just for the shows but for the extras...behind the scenes stuff...such as artwork, hearing from the writers and producers, audio commentaries, interviews with the voice actors...stuff like that. If this set had even a few of those features, I would be over the moon (over over New Thundera's moon, anyway). But it does not. It's just the episides and that's it. So, if like me, you're looking for just that little bit extra, you will probably be disappointed. There is supposed to be a few 'extras' on this set, but they are all to do with the theme song. It's a start...a move in the right direction, but a far cry for "excellent". Again, I am not complaining about the Thundercats at all...I am complaining about the people who put this DVD set together. We dedicated fans have been waiting 20 years for this to come out; you think in all that time they'd be able to get a little extra insider's information for us.Read full review

Combined with Silver Hawks, this was quite the line up of faves growing up. I'm happy I was able to find the first 3 sets for a bargain.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
This was a treat, finding a group of MINT condition DVD's series cartoons that I loved as child, The box set arrived in perfect condition and the graphics were great Holographic picture on the front was almost like the thundercat was right there and you could touch him. My son has been watching them since they arrived in todays mail he has watched 4 of the 6 and has fallen asleep. I would recomend these to any parent with a little boy. they are worth every penny and then some.
This was the best of the series. They finally turned the corner, as far as the story line goes. They went from trying to pleasing the pre-K crowd to finally relaizing that the core of their watchers were people were young adults. The story line flowed much better than the previous ones. I finally began to enjoy watching the series. Because I travelled a lot when it was on television, I did miss a lot of the shows. Now I have time to watch the shows at my leisure. I can't wait to purchase the last box set.
