This is by far, the best movie ever made about our GOD. The actors are so believable, you will forget that you are watching a movie.
This movie details the most important parts of the New and old testament and it is very hard not to keep putting in the next dvd, You will definitely try to watch all of it in one setting.
When Jesus shows up in Jordan, you will probably agree that the actor portraying him will grab hold of your heart immediately.
I have purchased this movie 5 times now, gave a couple away, and donated one to my church.
Did not do good research before purchasing. This series not as biblically accurate as one would hope. Certain storylines and narratives are off base and some adult scenes not appropriate for children. You would have hoped you could release a preteen to watch this without concern but not the case for me. Not a Passion of Christ by far, but not as bad as the hollywood Noah movie version. 3 stars for just OK.
Not Complete Like The Broadcasted Version (but still worth it for sharing!)
Especially Good Material for the non-Christian to view as an Entertaining Big Budget Movie... (Makes them ask questions that opens a very good door towards understanding God!)
I hope (that being said) that there are more films like this produced for non-believers (without an in depth knowledge of Christian History) to enjoy; "but next time I sincerely pray that they don't edit the DVD movie back from the Original TV Broadcasted Version, like they did with this one!"
If you had not seen this on TV, during the original broadcasting, you would just think that the timeline and flow through History was a little bit choppy and somewhat vague in parts, but in fact this DVD version has scenes deleted from the “much clearer to understand Broadcasted version”:-(
Why edit & delete scenes in the DVD version (made from the original Broadcasted version), I'll never understand???
(This seems to be an especially foolish choice for the producers in these days when Extra Scene, Extended & Director’s Cut DVD's are so popular!)
Never the less, If you did not see this Broadcasted or wanted to use this as a tool to open wholesome conversations with those who haven't seen it, This Is An Awesome Movie Concept To Present God's History With Us :-)
Worth Getting, even if it blesses just one member of your company, that you have over...

A very good watch, but with unnecessary alterations to the Bible stories
Overall, this is a very good production - fine actors, some excellent scenes and depictions and brilliant acting. It is an amazing feat to try and tell the Bible story, made up of 66 books and numerous individual stories and narratives. Francine Rivers has beautifully contextualised several Bible characters and I often think her research, inspiration and creativity as an author could translate well onto film. I was pleased to read in various articles that several Christian leaders and theologians were pulled together in the creation of The Bible. However, as a practicing Christian, I did find the slight alterations and omissions of parts of Biblical stories irritating and unnecessary. Now obviously, several things had to be omitted, but often these omissions became changes. Some would argue its down to interpretation, but the parts that I noticed altered were not really open to interpretation. For example - Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead was not done through body contact from within the tomb, but Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb in a loud voice. Also a female disciple (Mary Magdalene) is present with all other disciples and Jesus all of the time - this just did not happen and seems to be some sort of political correctness. Then there's the common mistake of assuming Moses did not know he was an Israelite until he was a grown man, when in fact he knew from a young age, because he was partly raised by his own Israelite mother! The whole David and Goliath story is not quite right either. In the written Bible, David the shepherd boy came out of nowhere to bring food to the battlefield for his brothers, but in The Bible he is shown as already being in the king's service when he volunteered to fight Goliath! Nevertheless, there are some outstanding scenes including Abraham's obedience in nearly sacrificing Isaac, Daniel's three friends refusing to bow to the golden statue of the Babylonian king and being thrown into the furnace and Jesus's crucifixion itself (although it would take alot to better Mel Gibson's The Passion). All in all - a very good watch, but it could have been greatly enhanced by staying true to the stories and not trying to 'better them' in parts, because essentially they are powerful enough as they are!Read full review
