The kit contains two trees of white plastic with recessed details and panel lines, a decal from TECHMOD for one aircraft, the pilot, Oberlt Walter Schnieder, circa 1941, a nice clear injected canopy in two pieces in case you wish to display it open There is an attached sealed bag of cast urethane parts including a well detailed cockpit , an all in one device including the seat and control stick, although mine had broken off and was mia in the bag. The wheel well is cast in a single piece and will provide an excellent depiction of the landing gear area. The cast wheels are correct for this version of FW-190 and also included are cast cannon and gun barrels The instruction sheet, letter size, printed on both sides, and folded in half. Intro in English and Czech, Assembly details in exploded view, on the inner half and on the back page, painting details and decal arrangement. Looks like a good start for a great model. I have seen listings for this kit with photo-etch parts, although nothing on the box or instructions on my kit, indicate inclusion. As with most short run models, this kit has a few deficiencies The first is the arrangement o f the parts on the trees. The Propeller is on the outside edge, with one blade pointing out with no protection from breakage. On my kit he outside blade had pierced the plastic bag, had broken off and was not in the box. There are no alignment pins on the parts, Some of the parts cast are devoid of additional detail, the engine oil cooler ring cast with a solid back, no engine front detail is provided, although it cammot be seen on this aircraft. The propeller mounts to the cooling fan and in turn is glued the the cowling ring, no provision for a spinning propeller..The landing gear doors devoid of inner side detail. The landing flaps are molded seperatly in case you wish to display them open. Details can be added to inprove the lack of detail, replacemetd landing gear doors, in my case from the new Eduard FW-190 A8 kit that includes parts for the earlier FW-190 A5, just released. The small parts sprue provides parts for both versions..My propeller came fron the A-5 kit. I plan on building this version as my next example of one of the different models of FW-190, and with the replacement parts, expect it to look as good as the much later released kits of the FW-190. All aside, this kit can be built into a very good model of the FW-190 A1, with the addition of a few replacement parts, and am happy it was available for purchase.Read full review

I have not built this kit, so here is an in-box review, plus a few general comments I have read on line. This is a very well-molded kit. The parts are crisp, the plastic is of the greyish styrene type. Although there is a difference in the surface of various plastics, this one's surface is "soft" and "matte" (no luster), it's plastic bends rather easily. Some other kits plastics have a "hard-gloss", very reflective, shiny surface, cracking with a sharp edge if bent too far. I have built both over the years & can't say that it makes any difference at all for gluing, sanding or painting. To get back to Sword's kit: the clear parts are just that, not hazy, not malformed. A modeler can go crazy if they like, discussing whether a kit is "accurate" or not. This is mostly a matter of personal opinion. The goal is a kit which builds into a true-to-life representation of the real aircraft. You see all kinds of comments: too long, wide, wrong shapes to the tail, canopies...it goes on & on. Basically, I, and other reviewers, think this kit has the right shape in most areas; and more importantly has certain features which designates this FW-190A-1 as an A-1 such, and not an FW 190A-4 (etc.) I do not hesitate to recommend this kit to nearly any modeler of average skill levels.Read full review
