"Sweet Honey in the Rock" is an all woman, all black a cappella singing group that was originally led by Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon (a Ph.D. is History who is the curator of the Washington, DC, Smithsonian's Museum of African American History. The rest of this remarkable group consists of Evelyn Maria Harris, Yasmeen Graham, Tulani Jordan Kinard, Yasaye Maria Barnwell, Shirley Childress Johnson, Aisha Kahil, Nitanju Bolade Casel (all of whom do the amazing vocals). This CD was recorded live at Carnegie Hall on November 7th, 1987, in New York City, New York. Included on this CD are most of this group's standards. Thus, since their performance at Carnegie Hall was historic, so is this 70 minute CD.
