Summer's prenatal workout is a little light on the cardio, like most prenatal DVD's, but it switches back and forth between moves that will keep your heart rate up and strength training moves. I think the music is a little bit too slow until you get into the strength training and it is just right. The strength training workout is excellent. Summer is pretty goofy, which might get on some people's nerves. It doesn't bother me, I think it is just her personality, but she doesn't exactly come accross as the elite athlete that she is. Be sure to have an exercise band to use, it is a must for this workout. Another plus--this DVD has workouts for each trimester, full length and express. I would reccomend this to a friend. I own a small collection of prenatal DVDs'--a couple of yoga DVDs, an aerobics one, a pilates/strength/cardio one, and now this DVD. I am happy with my purchase because at 5 months I was getting a little bored with what I had and this is a good workout that you can actually break a sweat doing. It is great to have another strength training workout to prepare for lugging around that baby! It is also feels great to tone your body, especially as you gain more and more at the end of the 2nd trimester and though the thrid.Read full review
I like this workout, it is pretty good. I like that it has full length (about an hour) and express length (about 35 minutes) options for when I am pressed for time or don't feel like doing a whole workout. First time I did it my legs were unbelievably sore for almost a week though, so I recommend taking it easy on the squats if you haven't done much working out. Other than that it seems to go by fast and hopefully it works..I haven't been using it for long enough to tell yet but I think it will.
The dvd itself is defintely not for those who just started working out. Being a busy working mom, the workout is also kind of long for me. My husband, a personal trainer, says many of the moves on the video are actually frowned upon by certified personal trainers during pregnancy.
I think workout videos are ridiculously silly and I prefer to be outside gardening or hiking but in the middle of a freezing winter when you are pregnant and tired this is ok... I turn off the sound and play my own music...
