This was an album I purchased while attending a semester abroad in England. When it was stolen during a break in, I attempted to replace it but found it was no longer in print. After two years of searching, I was so happy to find it on Ebay - actually, I registered with Ebay just to complete the purchase! Once again I can take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, but more than that, enjoy the smooth mixture of jazz and rock that appealed to me at the time. While it still sounds rather modern and fresh, the Eighties sound comes through loud and clear. I could imagine several of the numbers being remade by the Boxing Gandhis or even the Black Eyed Peas, like the first track, Hallelujah Man, track seven, Razorsedge, and track nine, Up Escalator. Others would be at home on a Simply Red album. Lead singer James Grant delivers such smooth, rich, sultry vocals it makes me wonder why he seems to have dead ended here. The lyrics come through clearly and crisply. No words to go misheard here. Other mainstream artists that I enjoyed at the time this was released: Simply Red, Julia Fordham, Everything But the Girl, Crowded House, Annie Lennox, Huey Lewis and the News.Read full review
