These guys were some of the early pioneers of thrash. Listening to this cd brings back great memories of my teenage years. It's hard to believe that the original "Speak English or Die" came out in 1985. It compares well with heavy music today and was surely an influence on many bands now. Not only did they play fiercely fast music but the humor they put in some of their songs make these tracks classics. Any fan of Anthrax, Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Megadeth, Minor Threat, and even Slayer will love S.O.D. and M.O.D. I highly recommend this cd, I just wish I had seen them live. This is the next best thing, and this cd includes some live tracks that weren't on the original I had back then.
I love the old school stuff and S.O.D. is just that! I had this originally back in the late 80's early 90's on cassette so when I saw it on cd remastered with additional songs and then the live tracks too. I had to have it! when I recieved it in the mail, I could'nt wait to hear again and when I put it in the deck in my car all those old memories came back! This one is a classic in your face thrash metal punk mix that stands the test of time.
Alright so here it is, if you liked the movie "Spinal Tap" and you missed the now out of print demo lp of "Before The Quarrel" by "The Cro Mags" and feel "The Anti-Nowhere League" is too far across the pond to reach for inspiration and you really loved it when "AC/DC" launched into a macho rock jam then you will love this album. In closing, check out the original "Dirty Rotten LP" remastered by "D.R.I."
I was lucky to be around in the 80's when Anthrax, Nuclear Assault & S.O.D. were alive and well. This Platinum Edition of Speak English or Die has some unreleased studio tracks and some live tracks that are essential for the old and new fan alike, and unlike other bands it is nice to get some recognition as a fan with this re-release. Thanks Supermart for shipping the CD to the UK & Thanks S.O.D.
SOD was the original thrash punk band and yes they are now considered completely banned due to their lyrics but they were so great and seeing them in concert in 1985 was a fabulous night. Like FEAR M.O.D. and to a point ...suicidal tendencies they were the true non conformist in the early to middle 80/s all hail the fun that was SOD dont over think it
