As a former Viet Nam combat veteran myself,I found the book to be an eye opener and often disturbing. It lambasts the entire PTSD arena, from the anti-war pyschiatrists who gave the PTSD disease measurable substance, the Veterans Administration bungling and inadequacies, and the veterans who milk the system. It also takes a long hard look at the psuedo Viet Nam service veterans. Many have never been in Viet Nam, let alone the service, and hundreds of these fakers also draw disability compensation from the VA! Crap! Where does it end? It is amazing how many bogus vets are in current government positions, act in Hollywood, and several are famous authors and experts on the war. It explains how these fakers forge bogus DD-214s,(I even tried this myself! Made myself a Lt.Colonel, and passed it off to various agencies before telling them I had hoodwinked them. It is incredably easy.) give themselves respectable rank, show several tours of duty in Viet Nam, are supposedly ex-Green Berets, Navy Seals, or often, the infamous Black Ops personnel. They have hundreds of Purple hearts(many of the fakers have up to 6 of these!), Distinguished Service Crosses, and multiple Silver Stars ad nauseum. They tell you that their records have been altered or kept secret because of the nature of their dangerous missions--bullsh_t! Hell, they even are on the lecture circut and have been found to be heads of prestigoius veterans organizations. The book can be a bit redundant, but nevertheless quite interesting and sometimes a shocker. I cannot say that I agree with everything concerning the authors point of view, but they are brutally honest and do provide a service. The book was worth the purchase price.Read full review
Still making my way through the book. (Just ordered and got it after reading a review.) For someone who was young but remembers the Vietnam War this is an amazing eye opener book debunking a lot of the persistent myths about the people who fought in that war. Really educating me. As far as ordering the book: it was as described, in fantastic condition, very good price and arrived rapidly, carefully packed.
