Just like the title says this cage really is squirrel proof. I actually use bird seed cakes in mine, not suet cakes. Works really great, and squirrels will climb on the side of the cage, hang from the bottom, swing around, you name it, but I've yet to see any squirrel be able to eat from this cage. They usually give up after a bit. Really sturdy built and all metal. Works really great in the rain too, the bird food does not get wet. I highly recommend this is you're looking for a squirrel proof feeder. Well worth the money and I now have 2 of them.

Well, it seemed like a good idea. The squirrels were eating a cake of suet daily and at $2 each, I thpught it was time for a change. This product was NOT it. True, the squirrels can't get to the suet, but the birds either can't reach in to get it or the design scares them away. The 1 suet cake I have put in remains untouched. Not sure what is going on here but I can't recommend this product. Perhaps it will improve with warmer weather (we're in NH) but for now, I'm not at all impressed. I may as well let the squirrels have the suet before it rots. Seemed like a good idea...didn't work out for me.

The squirrels will probably try to get at the suet anyway. I have a 5 year old version of this suet feeder and it is showing signs of wear. The first couple of years I had it, the squirrels tried constantly to chew their way into access to the suet. They didn't succeed, but they have chewed off the covering over the wire encasement and done what they could to batter it. This is my second feeder. The squirrels have given up and don't any longer ever try to get to the suet.

And the squirrels, doves, pigeons, black birds, and any other large birds hate me. Woodpeckers, even the large ones, eat well because they have such large beaks. I have a total of 6 of these now. They have to be the best squirrel proof bird feeder I have found. All metal sturdy construction. Also a great no mess feeder, because you use suet & seed cakes, theres no mess that falls onto the ground. We have big squirrels here in Texas so they cannot get thru the holes. They will try everything they can to get inside, but they dont even mess with them anymore.

The squirrels were eating the suet faster than I could put it out. No squirrels now and the small birds climb into the holes & eat and the woodpeckers stand on the outside & can reach the suet with their long beaks.
