"The Day" feels a lot like the post-apocalyptic movie "The Road" that came out a few years ago. It certainly looks very similar with the wash-ed out color scheme and there are some things about the story that were borrowed from "The Road" as well. The story is about a small band of survivors in a post-apocalyptic landscape looking for a place to stay for a very short while. Things don't turn out the way the survivors had planned and they end up trapped inside of a small ruin of a house with a large group of enemies intend on killing them. To make matters worse, one of the main characters may not be as trustworthy as they had thought. The movie is full is gritty violence that gets a bit uncomfortable at times with sheer brutality. Also, I enjoyed the twist in the movie and the fact that the character that I thought least likely to survive turned out to make it out alive in the end. It gets points for unpredictability. Its not a great movie but certainly entertaining and a good time waster. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.Read full review
