The adapter works as intended. I bent the +5V connector 90 degrees for my application. In my case, the current configuration of the +5V connector was incompatible with the hard drive enclosure. Simply put, the +5V connector stuck out too far to the side and was hitting the hard drive enclosure walls. The simplest solution I could think of was to bend this connector 90 degrees so it's vertical to the PCB. I was concerned that either the pins or the solder joints would break, but thankfully it didn't. The connector is tough enough, at least for what I needed it to do. Also, don't mind the white tape on the pics. I used them to electrically isolate the +5V solder joints from the metal drive enclosure. Safety first!
