This Squire Affinity series electric guitar has the looks, playability and affordability to make it a solid contender against any standard Stratocaster Fender produces. Fender uses very specific raw materials in their production over decades of trial and error to produce top quality instruments that carry a respected prestige factor in their final product. Their counterparts at Squire take advantage of the road paved by Fender in tandem with cutting edge technology to produce a product that boasts all the quality of a Standard Stratocaster with bulk raw materials that give the musician all the sound, tone and playability that Fender offers, minus the outrageous cost that the prestige factor burdens Standard Stratocasters with. The Squire product is a great alternative to a musician that doesn't need that Fender logo on the headstock but still wants the quality and craftsmanship that logo has to offer. This Affinity strat has an awesome HH design with a five way switch and delivers rich tone and sustain that lasts for days. It is crisp and clear while playing clean and super crunchy while jamming in overdrive. It's a versatile instrument for a versatile musician. The neck is fast and silky smooth with medium jumbo frets and a wide profile for leading and scaling. The frets aren't sharp and shredding on this guitar is uncompromised. The solid body is easy to control and can be played easily while sitting or standing. The hardware is top quality as well. The machine heads keep the guitar in tune perfectly, even when pulled in and out of a gig bag every day. The bridge is solid and has no issues with wear and tear, This is a guitar built to be played for years and all it's hardware is a testament to the final product. This is an all around quality instrument made by a trusted and time tested manufacturer. Have no reservations about making a purchase when it comes to a Squire Affinity series Stratocaster. With this guitar you can't go wrong.Read full review

These Squier guitars are a great deal for the price, in general. They all need a proper set-up by a pro, but once that's done, they play great and sound very good. The Affinity Strat has a narrow width neck, so it is suited for people with smaller hands, especially women and children. I myself find the neck too narrow, but i'm used to a regular-width Strat neck. Again, if you're just starting out on guitar, Squiers are a great choice. But remember to pay the $50-60 for a good set-up. It makes all the difference.
