This book deals with the sensitive subject of rape from both the points of view of the victim and those who did not understand her behavior changes. It showed how the victim put herself in a dangerous situation by doing the same thing young girls everywhere are doing, associating with older teens and drinking alcohol. It also showed how lack of reporting allowed the perpetrators behaviors toward other to continue. I was concerned about letting my 14 yr old DD read this, but it does allow young women to think through the situations they might allow themselves to be in that could potentially be very dangerous. My daughters eyes are opened much more now than if I were just to warn her. Very educational book and deals with subject at a level high schoolers can understand and use to prepare themselves to deal with someone who may be going through a similar problem. I suggest you at least ask your teen what the storyline is and ask them what they are learning. The decisions they make for themselves are the ones they'll stick with and this book does a good job of pushing that thought process.Read full review

I bought this book for my EDU 301 class, and I ended up reading it in one three hour session. It's a phenomenal book chronicaling the freshman year of a girl in high school who is having some real problems in school. This book would be great for people in high school, for people who were the quiet, misunderstood students in school, or for teachers who want to get some insight into the thinking of students like the one in this book. Strongly recommended.
