I've never read anything quite like this before...and I've read a LOT of paranormal mysteries and romances. SOULLESS is set in Victorioan England, where vampires and werewolves are accepted in society. But, like the rest of the upper class, they must observe strict rules of proper behavior or risk social suicide. The heroine of the novel, Alexia Tarabotti, is a spinster of 26 who is unlikely to find a husband due to her Italian heritage, her outspoken ways, and the constant reminders from her mother and half-sisters that her large nose and dark skin are unattractive. As if that weren't bad enough, Alexia is a preternatural --- a human being who lacks a soul. This does not make her evil; in fact it provides unique protection from vampires and werewolves. They can't harm her because if she touches them, they become human as long as the physical contact is maintained. Alexia captures the eye of a local werewolf lord, who is not only rich and socially prominent (a good thing) but Scottish (a negative, since the Scots are not as mannerly as the British). Still, Alexia's mother promotes the match, but Alexia's preternatural condition complicates the situation, especially since a group of scientists are abducting both supernaturals and preternaturals in order to study them. The scientific experiments usually result in death, and both Alexia and her werewolf, Lord Maccon, are on the hit list. Ample humor is provided by Alexia's frivolous family, as well as gay vampire Lord Akeldama and his harem of studly male vampire wannabees. Action, adventure, humor, and romance --- a worthy debut to s new series. I can't wait to read #2, CHANGELESS.Read full review
This book was hard for me to put down. From page one I immediately feel in love with the characters. If you enjoy a story set in a Steampunk, Victorian era London and you enjoy supernatural characters, look no further.

A very interesting read as this book takes the reader through quite an adventure that combines supernatural relationships and imaginative machines that are in many ways similar to the twilight Saga and Sherlock Holmes. This is a great book that will hold you as you turn the pages -- a must read indeed.
This set of books is very enjoyable. It has fantasy, steampunk & mystery. Each book keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering what's next.
good corky book! There is a bit of humor in the book and i enjoyed a different take on the werewolves and the vampires. Keep you entertained and am enjoying the second book.
