I decided to give a try to this music player, after skimming over the features, and after all Walkman is a famous brand. So, what's the worst that could happen? Turns out not a lot of bad. I was initially kinda worried, when I read the reviews, complaining about the hold function and how it's "broken", etc. If you are someone like me, you really won't care about it. I bought this music player, so that at work I could escape the aural torture they call radio. And it works. I use it fairly silently, so I would not be oblivious to the environments, but loud enough to nullify the radio, and that works for me quite well (these experiences may vary, after all everyone has different ears). And the little thing is both discrete and pretty endurant. I listened to music non-stop throughout the shift (0600 to 1500 today), and after I started going home, I decided to let it some better blast, so another 2 and a half hours of use (been to shops, did some things, etc) with rather loud setting. The little thing only consumed 18% of the battery after all that. I am not too sure how long the batteries will last in the long run, but music players usually have it pretty decent. Usually. If to compare it to my old Archos music player (which I gave to my dad, and it still lasts quite long for a 2009 music player), this player is definitely better in more than just having more memory/battery. Oh and this thing is smaller too. First of all, what I like about it, is that all of it's controls are analogue. That Archos player had some touch controls and yeah, nowadays touch phones are all the rage, and I got two of those myself, but touch controls always irked me for some reason. Maybe I am too old-fashioned. I've only two gripes with it. First: it does not seem have a feature to lock all controls with a flick of (somewhat stiff) switch, like the Archos player did and sometimes one or the other button gets pressed by accident, while I handle loads, which can be annoying at times. Maybe I missed out the feature somehow, so don't take this complaint for gospel. My second gripe is that you cannot make playlists on the music player. Which is a monumentally stupid design flaw.Other than that, I really like the earphones that the payer came with. Usually the stock earphones tend to suck, but these are quite enjoyable. I have noticed that not a lot of sound escapes my ears, even when playing loudly, so that's a plus from me, as I prefer to remain discrete and not bother anyone. Oh and it may vary with the personal taste, but the songs that the player comes with... Kill them all with fire. While trying (and I'm being generous here) to listen to them it did occur to me why Sony did not include some actually good songs of more widely acknowledged artist, as after all Sony and Sony Records are merely the different head of the same hydra, and I think that if it comes from recognizable artists, then it's good marketing for the music player. At least far more than the no-name bands included, which from my perspective are no-name bands for all the good reasons this time. Archos at least came with two decent bands on the music player. Sinew and (forgot the name, but provided if my memory did not fade, the title of the album was) Miss Jesus. If you buy this, take a skim (if you dare) and hear for yourself.Read full review
This is the older Sony Walkman (NWZ-E374), but it's still my favorite. Easy to use. Good battery life. Simple drag-n-drop file function from most desktop computers, as the unit basically functions as a flash drive. Great FM range. Love the silly thing.

I use theses daily to listen to sermons I MP3 off the net while I ride my horse, bike, do barn chores, and drive . They have about a lifespan of a year. I'd like it better if you didn't have to go the the gyrations of hold to turn off and on, like the older versions. this one is "ok" not outstanding, but not awful either.

Light weight, long battery life, easy to use. I listen to books to fall asleep and like that the light goes out quickly. Like it much better than the touch screen I had. You have to have nails to use it.
I Hate this player ...and I'm a die hard Sony fan. I have had two others models and loved them. This one always goes into "Hold" after a few seconds on Pause. Then you have to do 3 steps to get it playing again..including a long hold down of the option button. Stupid and inconvenient in the car. They apparently eliminated the separate hold button to cut costs. So before you buy, make sure the model you're considering has the side buttons for volume and hold. I'm dumping this one.
