I bought this to put into a vintage cabinet because of its small size but strong output. It is also versitile with a lot of input connections. As yet, I have not powered it up and cannot comment on its sound. I will get around to the cabinet installation when I select the appropiate turntable. Then, after I use it for awhile, I'll sell it. I tried turning it on but the power button is stuck and doesn't move.
This SONY AVR is perfect for what I need. I only use it for music broadcasts from my cable provider. It supports wired ceiling speakers in two rooms and provides good audio output. The unit replaces a similar unit, which lost audio.

This Sony receiver is a very good option for your system. It has three digital input and one digital output. You can run a TV, DVD or other digital source into this unit and then run the output into another digital receiver so you can daisy chain the two (or more).

I purchased one of these used for my bedroom set up and love it. It is a loaded receiver that I think it was really advanced for it's time. I'm running all polk audio fronts and rears as well as sub and all surround sound speakers. This thing is beast and I can't get over half volume it is so loud. I have a newer sherwood in my living room that is loaded with HDMI ports and is a high-end receiver that don't come close to this one. I'm thinking on selling it to purchase another one of these sony 835!

I have this unit. It was more than ample filling a 24 by 35 great room with fair quality sound. It has way too many sound field selections AND YES, it can be turned off by the remote. But it just died. Of course, it is more than 7 years old and out of warrantee. No one will service this thing. Sony promises to take a look at the unit for $122 so long as I ship it to them ($expensive$). It seems more cost efficient to simply buy a new unit. Oh Well.
