I have an 8 gig Sony that I have been using for years and I let my son start using it. I loved it. The battery life is way beyond other mp3s I've had. I bought this one for extra storage 16 gig and for the fact that I could have all music play at the same sound level which was a big problem with the old one. I tried to use an 84 gig Ipod that was given to me and it was too much trouble to convert all my music and trying to figure out itunes, forget that, not a fan of paying a ton for Apple products when I can get great products for a fraction of the cost. Anyway I digress, for some reason the battery doesn't last as long as it is supposed to, maybe 15 hours rather than 30 like my old one and the old one has a separate hold button and volume buttons, but I've gotten used to it now, you just have to pause playback then hold button to power down and it automatically goes on hold. I love that it plays all my music at the same volume level and the equalizer works well too. I probably should have sent it back to get one that the battery last as it should, but it lasts as long as other mp3s and longer than the Ipod. I just love how it plays and don't want to do without it for however long it would take to send it back and get another one. I use it daily, on my 12 hour workdays and during workouts on the other days. Love it. Read full review

I had a 4 gig earlier version that worked sooo much better. the older 1 had 4 days of battery when I got it and would last a day and a half when it crapped out. this one has a tendency to freeze up for no apparent reason. It's really frustrating as I use this as my music source at work. i wouldn't buy this again. maybe next time ll go with a REAL I-POD.

The sound quality on my new Sony Walkman® (so happy to be back to original brand of personal music players!). It is not quite as intuitive in its menu navigation, or maybe I am still adapting after years of an iPod Classic, but it was a fraction of the price and size and the sound quality (again) is nearly mind-boggling. With a set of good headphones, I don't know that I've heard digital files sound so big. I love it. Thumbs up!

It's easy to use. I transferred my music from Windows media. It kept my playlists too. I only use it once a day so battery life is not a factor right now. I am happy with my selection. I don't like iPod products.

I have owned these units for years and they have worked well for what I needed them for. I have been archiving old radio shows as mp3's and they have been adequately reliable. Unfortunately I cannot say anything good about this model. Neither can Sony tech support. I have ordered 6 so far and only one has worked properly and that one is very erratic. The main problem with this current model is it freezes intermittently and the menu buttons do not work at all. If you do a reset and they just happen to function it will only last a few minutes and then you go back on the merry go round with the same frustrating problem. If you buy make sure it is the older model and not this one. You will regret buying this one no matter how good the price is.
