So it's 2018 full frame dslrs are affordable.i have a Pentax k1 that I love and a handful of great primes and shoot mf film too Sometimes it's just fun to grab a cheap old digicam from years gone by and put in program mode and just point and shoot whatever grabs attention and print out a bunch of 4x6.this old antique of a camera is also very capable of large prints too if you want, not poster size lol but crisp 11x14 maybe a 16x20 depending on subject and no huge raw files to deal with

I like the Sony Mavica cameras because of their quality and ease of use. The MVC CD500 is a 5 megapixel camera and the top of the Mavica line of CD cameras. It has all the features you'll need for taking a wide variety of photographs. The macro mode is perfect to get close to small nature shots and the 12X zoom(3X optical, 4X Smart zoom) will bring in those things you can't get close to. It has a movie mode and microphone to capture live action video. At 5 megapixels, it's all the camera you'll need for printing pictures up to and including 8 X 10's. The only feature you'll miss from the CD400 is there is no black and white mode with the CD500. All in all, the CD500 is a great camera to have for those "Kodak" moments.
This camera, one of the latest in the Mavica line intrigued me. Not only for its uniqueness, but for its quality as well. Zeiss lenses are among the best, and the fact this camera possess it adds to its photographing quality. Also the use of its laser focusing system, places it in the same family as the Sony Cybershot DSC F717 and F828. Saving the images to the mini CD-R is something that some camera enthusiasts will find interesting. Though now dated with the flash memory options, its still a technology that for its time worked out well. Overall, a good camera and good collectors item for those into the Mavica genre.
This camera is an excellent first digital for someone. you have the point and shoot type features to help the beginner; or, you can have the complexity of setting all the setting as well to take you beyond the beginner. The one thing that I don"t like is lack of depth of field. you have to be fairly close to your subject to have a truely outstanding picture. I bought this one because the seller made it sound so wonderful. It is for what it"s intent is but not for a novice who wants more. Thank you Dale
