These sonys a very nice and if your looking to get a headphone from sonys extra bass line then this is the one to get or if you love bass but cant afford the BEATS by dre/monster which these and the bud versions of these are cheaper and sound better. Don't fall for the HYPE you will have to get the most expensive ones to really get quality and its still not worth it at the price they sell it for. These SONYS are hella big but its fall and they will keep your ears warm. These are super comfy and its like having a temperpedic on your ears. I have read some reviews that sat they bass drowns out everything but thats not what happened in my experience with them at all. I also had the the xb500 and those have more bass to me and do kinda drown everything out. The XB700 however give you very clear tight BASS and only do so when the song has BASS. It wont create BASS were there is none. These headphones are very nicely balanced. When you have a high quality song at 320kps it will rock you. I use these with my sony X series that has clear BASS and some other audio features so for the people who complain about overpowering bass may need to check there EQ or mp3 quality. I give these a 4 out of 5 stars because sony has the tech to make these smaller with the same quality and if you use them when it warm it will makes your ears hot. For the price I would they are way better than the BEATS by DRE.Read full review
The major claim on this headphone is the 'powerfull bass'. The earbuds on my old Sony Ericsson W910 cellphone had a more intense bass sound than this giant pair of cushions. BUT, the fidelity on this headphone is amazing, the responses from low frequences to high frequences are very good. This headphone is a quite comfy, you can use it for hours in a row without any problem. What I Loved : The comfy and ergo, the good responses from low to high frequences. What I Hated: The short wire (maybe this shor wire is directed to portable devices but, the XB700 isn't the most portable headphone). Lately I bought a 16Ft extension. What make me decided to buy: Sony brand and my old experiences with Sony headphones. Last note: bought a refurbished headphone, by Sony, quite cheap. I think about the price of a new headphone is a bit overpriced sometimes, like an others products of Sony IMHO.Read full review
This product is outstanding when compared to its peers. The Dynamic Range is 3 Hz to 28,ooo Hz. I know of no other headphones that offer a bass as deep as 3 Hz. 5 or 8 is usually the "low" of the finest competition, and basic non-professional headphones and tiny headsets that are low cost range around 20 to 20,000 Hz at best. These headphones bring out the low sounds that cannot be otherwise heard. The high notes are surprisingly good and rich at 28,000 hz. The comfort is outstanding, with huge cushions that completely enclose the ears, rendering "noise cancelling" features offered by some others unnecessary, since all exterior sound is completely blocked anyway, like gun headphones for a shooting range. At a list price of ~$125 (cheaper on discount) there are no headphones that can rival their performance unless you pay beyond the $300 range, ie...DJ/Studio Quality for treble highs between 80,000 Hz to 110,000 Hz. Even then, the Bass will not be lower than 5 to 8 Hz. They are also stronger than virtually any other headset on the market, Sony or Otherwise...by anyone. In summation: Durability #1 Comfort #1 Bang for Buck #1 Bass #1 unrivaled. Treble and Midrange, very good. Even if someone demanded a $500 set for the ultra high 110,000 Hz treble level, they would still need a pair of these to cover the many types of music available, in order to get the full breadth of the music as it was truly meant to be heard.Read full review
Compared to the new line-up of XB cans from Sony, these definitely look retro. Who cares how comfortable, or pleasant sounding headphones are if they don't make strangers on the bus envy you... Oh, wait a second, anyone who enjoys, really has love for music. Personally, I use them for any era of hip hop, R&B, rap and the kicker, any metal band sounds outrageous on these headphones. Music that might make other cans rattle, or create distortion on only low low frequency, these take it. You don't need an amp to push them but like any pair of IEM on or over ear device, an amp/dac always brings out the true colors. These are not likely to be found in any serious recording studio, or around the neck of a cameraman at an NFL game. There not meant to be a monitor, nor only meant to be enjoyed by bass heads, everyone could use a pair of the original Beats in their repertoire. Quickly, these cans will get more and more desirable and less of them will go un modified. If you haven't already, swoop yourself a pair! P. S. 500 or 1000 are a personal taste, and I find the 700 to be the best all around for any genre of music.Read full review

I got this headphone second hand since they are not making new ones of these anymore. I had it shipped from Japan. The quality is awesome and I just love the how soft it is. I had the previous XB500 for three years and it was great but broke from the plastic handle. The XB700 is softer sturdier and the ear 'muffins' are bigger so it completely hugs the ear. Love it. I'm wondering what I should do if i lose this on! :'(
