Love - call quality (crisp, clear, no interference); screen (vibrant colors); lens cover (sliding down requires some force, but at least it doesn't open in your pocket/bag); ability to use mp3's as ringtones; voice messaging; at&t has great signal (in california at least); size of the phone. Like - menu setup (easy to navigate); 2.0 MP picture quality (picture quality is o.k, could be better for a cyber-shot; Flash is too bright up close and useless beyond 6 inches); music player sounds good. Dislike - battery life could be longer (marginal use - charge every 4/5 day); keys are absurdly small (I have small fingers too); the web browser key (I always hit it unintentionally and it charges my account); radio requires sony pronged headphone (which are uncomfortable)
My wife and I both have Sony K550I phones. I have the black one, and she has the white one. It is a good phone, although both of ours had the same defect, the screen did not display anything but you could tell the phone was on by a blinking light on the inside, but you could not even call or do anything. Luckily they were both under warrantee. It happened to my phone when it was 6 months old, and my wifes when it was 9 months old. The camera takes a good picture for a camera phone, although the controls are not set up real well. The light built in is bright, and works as a small flashlight when needed. The battery life is okay, although not stellar. I use my phone as a MP3 player while going to work. You can buy a jack that plugs in to your phone and lets you plug it into headphones, or your cars CD player. Here is where they should have made a seperate plug, as you cannot have it charging, and playing at the same time. So if your battery is down, you have to stop the music to recharge it. You can play through the on board speaker while charging, but my car is too load for me to hear it well. Overall it is a good phone, although I don't know if I would recomend it because of the obvious factory defect these phones have.Read full review
I just bought this phone and I've used it for about 1 week now and its simply awesome. The camera is very good and produces high quality crisp pictures. I like it because: - Good Camera (high quality pictures - 2MegaPixels w/ zoom in and out features) - Very good STEREO sound system (crystal clear sound quality) - Very small and light - The keypads are easy for sms'ing - I can watch videos on the go. The screen is very clear! - It has a M2 memory slot. The default M2 given is only 64MB but I just bought a 1 GB M2 and I have over 400+ songs in the phone :) I dont like it because: - No 3G function. Overall, its a great phone or both teenagers and adults. If you are a hardcore music listener and video addict, I recommend you to buy this phone.
The main feature I liked most on this Sony Ericsson K550i Cyber-shot camera phone was the open and shoot lens cover. Even if your phone is in 'locked' mode, as long as it's powered on, you can open the aluminum lens cover and it will be instantly ready to take a photo or video. The LED light is bright and really appreciated both as a flash for closeup night photos, but also to find your keys in the dark. If you set it up to work with a (G-mail) IMAP4 or POP3 based e-mail account you can actually send full size photos (only suggested with unlimited GSM data accounts). I paid AT&T my unlimited MediaNET and it worked just fine. The only thing that made me change phones was that Sony Ericsson came out with a newer model (K850i) that is 5 megapixels and supports 3G data! This K550i is stuck in EDGE only data so it's 2 mexapixel support is really perfectly suited for it's data speed capabilities. This is a great phone for those who feel the need to shoot a photo and share it with the world at a moments notice. Great battery life too, I suggest downloading the Google Maps & Gmail applications, along with Opera Mini and Yahoo GO if you get the chance, they all run great on this little beast of a camera phone.Read full review
Great Phone! User Interface is very intuative. This phone is packed full of features! Great 2 mp camera with flash! You can also turn on the flash w/o the camera so it can be used as a flashlight in the dark! Keys seem small, but are really good for texting. Stereo is good. Lightweight and durable. Possibly the best phone that i've ever had!
