DVD player-I like having both HDMI and Component outputs. The picture is great with HDMI-Very good with Component-.just OK with RCA/Composite output, but hey-at least there's a picture with composite output on a HDTV. The "display" feature has two separate screens, one that shows where the movie is in terms of time left-time elapsed, opportunity to use repeat play, select a scene, etc. The second "display" feature allows one to choose custom viewing and audio choices. One just has to stop the play, and then make adjustments, then play again with preferred options. The unit is very slim, but wider than I'd like, but it is very light in weight. The back of the unit has a component out 3 slot output, a digital audio output that allows me to get surround sound if connected to a TV that's connected to a surround sound Blu-Ray DVD sound system. There's a coaxial output slot for analog connectivity, and two composite audio output slots, along with a yellow video slot. For people that are picyuney lol with their options, this DVD player is for us. I tried about four other Sony Up conversion DVD players, and this NS700 model is my favorite of the available units under $50.Read full review

I bought this DVD player because the one I had would refuse to play an entire movie all the way through. Skipping and lagging and freezing oh my! So I decided to get a DVD player from this century, and this I found for really cheap. I like it so far, it has HDMI outs and other optical audio outputs which I love as I am a post production engineer. My only "issue" (and it isn't really a big issue) is it seems to take a slightly long time to load the title screen upon initial insertion. However it still only takes about 25-30 seconds, so it's really just an artifact of our current "instant gratification" society that has resounded in my impatience to watch a movie. Other than that it's fantastic! Recommended for a first DVD player or even for your eleventh. -A
I like it because I have been wanting an extra DVD player for my bedroom and this one is a SONY and it works great. The picture looks perfect every time I play a new disc and the remote control is very simple and easy to use and so I like that also. It was such a great price here on ebay that I couldn't pass it up for all of the features it had. It is a HD player and supports 1080p TV's so it will be around I feel for a longer time than some of the older DVD players.
Older DVD player with all the bells and whistles including upscaling. This one is like new except for one little dent on the top. DVDs played by this and viewed on a 1080p 50" plasma look nearly as good as blue-ray. I purchased this player as a spare to replace an identical unit that has been in daily use for several years and will eventually fail.
