I got this player because I found a great deal and it had WiFi built-in. However, this model essentially uses WiFi just to update it's firmware/software and stuff. If there is a way to mod it to run like a new Sony Blu-Ray player and stream Netflix/YouTube/etc., I can't figure it out so it's probably pretty difficult. Do your research on each model's capabilities, because even though this has WiFi and Ethernet network connect capabilities, you can't do much with it. Even more importantly, I realized after I bought it that only some (most newer) players can display 3D. Again, a firmware update might help the lens decode interlaced signals, but to my knowledge this player will automatically just display the standard channel, playing 3D disks in 2D. Haven't tried playing one yet. I got a factory refurb for about $60, with some cosmetic but no serious damage, so I will try harder to hack it when I have more time and might follow up with a different review, but honestly you can get a great deal on a newer model refurb if you do your research and look hard for that price. Overall, the picture and audio quality is excellent, I usually use optical sound and S-video, but sometimes I use RCA and it still looks awesome on the projector. Upconverts DVDs effectively. Would highly recommend a Sony Blu-Ray player - Sony/Philips were the leading developers of the technology! But this one is now officially outdated.Read full review
this model is very easy to setup and the picture and sound quality is great. good bluray for the money and would recommend it. the only thing i didnt like was the remote seemed pretty cheaply made compared to all the rest of my remotes. the wifi sucks always searching but with a cord runs fine. wish they could have a menu for netflix right on the bluray menu instead of going to the computer picking something and streaming it to the player. was thinking of running it through my 360 because it has a menu but i get stuck paying for my membership year round. overall the bluray is great for the quality of picture just down about wifi and netflix not having menu on player
Sounds great and makes a good picture. Mine did not come with a remote, but they are easy enough to find, and essential for using it.

I have had it for a year now and it is just wonderful. My parents liked it so much that they bought one for the family room and hooked it up to our 55" 1080P Mitsubishi. The advantages I would say are that is is made by Sony who also developed blu-ray technology in the first place and the built in wireless (not so significant now since pretty much every new model has it built in as well). The only problem is that I only have a 23" 480P LCD TV (I don't have the money or space for anything bigger/better) in my room and I cant take advantage of the picture quality blu-ray discs offer. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing wrong with this product but if you plan on getting this or any other blu-ray player for that matter, be sure to have a 1080P enabled resolution television and good a component video or HDMI cable to hook it up.Read full review
