Sony BDV-T57 3D Blu-ray home theater is a great system for the money. Sound is fine for average surround sound home use, woofer works as well. It up scales 2D to 3D, and 3D works fine with my 65 inch MITSUBISHI 3D TV, no problem. My problem is the Wi-Fi is NOT built in but uses a Sony proprietary Wi-Fi wireless adapter that is near impossible to get now that Sony quit making replacements. Speakers too have proprietary plugs so they will not work on other home theaters but plugs can be snipped off and replaced with universal RCA jacks. So the unit gets a 4 star rating for playing DVD and Blu-ray disc's, sound, and 3D, but 1 for proprietary greed on the WiFi adapter! Mine went missing and now cannot watch Netflix, a Sony update a few years ago removed YouTube.

The only non 5-star review on this product was upset because he lost his wifi adapter... this is not the fault of the product. The same reviewer complained Sony removed YouTube, this is only half true. YouTube changes its API some time ago causing it not to work on devices like this or the AppleTV Gen1. Product works great as intended at time of manufacturer. Also, it has ethernet which is always preferable over wifi, but Sony at least made a corded adapter for better placement (opposed to in a boxed in shelf where most players reside).

This is an older Sony home theater system. And the old adage that they don't make 'em like they used to holds true here. I bought this to replace a faulty newer model. Turns out the sound from this is even bigger and better. I immediately noticed the difference in weight. This older model is heavier than my newer, faulty one. The extra weight was in the receiver and in the subwoofer. I guess a heavier subwoofer made for the better sound. Overall this is a good product that delivers great sound. And if you can find this for under $200, it's a good value. Plus the fact that this is a more traditional home theater system that uses five or six speakers instead of a single soundbar makes this even more valuable. Manufacturers are moving away from the 5 to 6 speaker design. I've had this for about a couple of months so I can't attest for its durability but so far so good. Read full review

GREAT VALUE. Definately no the best system out there, but i diddnt want to spend $1000. Sound is clear and crisp. Bass is good at loud volumes. Takes a little time to warm up, but not a big deal (I could change that setting if i wanted to). Easy to set up, just follow the instructions on the screen. The appearance of the unit is also very nice. Looks much more expensive than it was. I would definately reccommend this unit for your average TV/Music person. The only drawback, not a big deal, but there is no HDMI in port, only out. It does have the normal red and white cable in though for TV sound.
My husband & I bought this Blu-Ray DVD player because we owned another one ( same model #) and the sound & pictures were so clear!
