This is one great book. It is an excellent overview of the top 40 radio from the early days of rock'n'roll to it's decline in the 1970s with "album rock" FM. If you're a radio station exec, using some of the ideas in this book (with moderation, of course) could really increase your potential listenership. It's been away so long that it could be considered "new and fresh" to a new generation. Other books I would recommend are: Have Mercy!: Confessions of the Original Rock 'N' Roll Animal.....FM: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio, by Richard Neer....Rebels on the Air: An Alternative History of Radio in America, by Jesse Walker.....and The Hits Just Keep on Coming: The History of Top 40 Radio, by Ben Fong-Torres.
This is a fantastic book for anyone that loves radio!
