This is one of the best rock and roll records of all time, amazing that when it came out, many critics panned it, they are fools. This album is full of variety, except nothing much slow, except the country song "Faraway Eyes" which is the best country song ever done by a rock band, and one of the best country songs ever. I bought this one for the 2009 remaster, but I hear nothing different except the base volume is higher, no need to pay more for this one, get the last remaster, there ain't no real difference. Also, "Beast of Burden" is one of the best Stones tunes ever, this is one of the best places to start to build a Rolling Stones collection, do not believe those who say it was downhill after "Exile on Main Street", those folks can't get out of the past. This one is a five star (out of five). P.S. Every damn album they did in the Seventies is top notch, as well, except " Goats Head Soup.", which is still quite likeable.Read full review
I feel redundant in writing about "Some Girls" by The Rolling Stones. After all, what hasn't been written or said about the Stones and/or their records? I will not drone on about every track, or what possible alternate meaning the lyrics hold, or explore the personal aspects of the band's life that was going on at that time. Anything along those lines is history, as all that was done during the time leading up to the album's release in 1978. Everybody who cares to know, knows. So here it is: I bought a copy of this CD to replace one. I did so because I like the record. A lot. Enough so that a download wouldn't suffice. I have to have the physical product. Just as I did in 1978. There's your droning, exploration, and history.
Not much debate that this is one of their best. For some reason many songs from this album were not played live but they sure got played on the radio. After reading many reviews, one thing I pickup was that several versions of this recording, manufactured by different companies, are not up to most listening standards. This one by Universal Distributing was rated the best. I have not heard the SACD/SHM version but it seems to be highly touted also and I see that some are from Universal too. Remember, Some Girls was voted a top 500 greatest album of all-time album and Beast of Burden, Miss You, top 500 greatest songs.
I absolutely love this cd!I had this on cassette back in 12th grade. It had been forever well maybe not that long since I had heard this album in its entirety. The quality of the Stones, the songs the production simply wonderful!
