Ever buy the plastic chrome plated type only to have one valve side stick causing the plastic handle break off? Ever have one on the ground at a campsite and someone accidentally stepped on it? Well, the solid brass type Y connector will far outlast any plastic adapter, and it is serviceable. You can pay nearly half for a plastic adapter that may or may not last more than one season, or get a solid brass adapter that your grandson can use when he is old enough to need one. Is it really a good deal? If you value your sanity it is. Things never break at a time when it is convenient to replace, or worse, have a plastic one split and spray water all over something that really ought not get drenched, like a running generator. Remember Murphy's Law? So then, the brass one is indestructible eh? Well, no it is not, if you let it freeze while filled with water, it will likely fail. But with normal common sense and reasonable handling, it should last a good long time.Read full review

Threads do not fit hose or house faucet. Could not tighten enough to get the washer to seal. When I loosened the hose, the ball valve fell out. Part of the Y-splitter was still in my hose. Tried grinding the threads down, but the inner threads are the wrong dimension. The valve handle screw comes out easily also. Unless your house faucet and hose are non-standard, do not buy. Mike

brass is the only way to go other companies make them brass with plastic open and cl period ofthe plastic deteriorates over a short period of time. This one has brass knobs also which makes it useful for many years.

There is no visible plastic in the valve (except the replaceable hose gasket.) A solid brass body, stainless balls, and a collar that lets you rotate the Y to the angle you want. I think it will last a long time. As others have mentioned, it does take a lot of strength to open the valve under pressure when it has been off for a while.

I found this 2-way connector after using several others which failed quickly- leaks past valves and cracks mostly. I have 2 of these and have had one of them for 3 years and have never had a leak anywhere, even past the valves. Excellent.
