You can get Drum loops on everything from iPhone to computer. You can make backing tracks on the computer. You should consider whether the beat buddy is worth it Based on your needs. Of course the beat buddy full has many more features. As an old-school guitarist I thought I would use this with loopers as an alternative to the computer recording process. Many items today overlap and there are other ways to get drumbeats live or for recording Having said that here is a review There is a nice combination of sounds on the mini at about $100 it could be great for jamming with a bass player or creating loops. You may find its instant gratification preferable to drum programs . It's simple to use and unless your focus is really complex Beats this is sufficient to generate some great ideas The features of fills, intros, transitions gives a spontaneous nature to writing jamming and even recording. Of course the number one negative as usual is that it's not battery-powered and it's typical 9 V adapter is 500 mA and that's a lot. In addition the separate foot switch is really only necessary to be able to change grooves with your foot otherwise the basic foots witch on that unit does a lot. To spend extra is worth it to change grooves without bending but it is an added expense. Someday they will understand that loopers and Drum machines must run on batteries for convenience & outdoors and because there's so many other ways to use loops on an iPhone or iPad. I'm not sure if I will sell it or use it. a lot depends on your approach and needs. if you want to record backing tracks with bass use a tablet or computer. But the simplicity and fills may work for you. At this price it can be a great tool for one man shows, creating looping, jam with non drummers and the interesting functions of the buttons. Think about how you would use it if you can't spend the money on the full beat buddy this is a pretty awesome tool I think it would've been better 10 years ago but still very cool . Many varieties of Drum sounds and fills.Read full review

While the idea is great, and the designers did put a lot of instinctive of functionality into it, it has two fatal flaws. First, the drum sounds themselves are pretty thin sounding, and unlike its larger version, the drum kit sounds can't be switched out, and a new kit downloaded. You could run its output to a separate channel of a PA or amplifier to give it different EQ, with more bottom end, but that's not really the way it was intended to be used. You're normally stuck with the tone settings you'd expect to be using with your guitar. Just a little bit of built in EQ settings, adjustable via the setup menus, could have solved this problem. Just for comparison, I do have a few other guitar multi-effects pedals (one made by ZOOM) which also has drum sounds, almost thrown in as an afterthought, which have both much better built in sound, as well as EQ settings in case you don't like the default. Second, if you ever happen to need a non 4/4 time signature, you'll find your choices pretty slim. Bottom line, not a good product to by without first hearing, or like me you may be returning it.Read full review

Pros: Simple and easy to use. Cons: Intros are terrible (too long), and can not be disabled. Drum kits are fixed. No flexibility. No rim shots in any of the kits. Could use more genres to choose from. Just a few changes would make this a great product. Very disappointed for the price paid.

Good portable device. Has a lot of useful beats. But the drum roll that opens every single selection has to go. It's not realistic and very annoying. As is the lack of variety in the Latin/Samba mode. Good for the price.

this works great for practice and playing out but I wish it had a remote that you could mount on your mike stand so you could change settings quickly then it would be really awesome. Bobby Lee
