I absolutely love my machine. I've had my ce200 for about 3 years now, and I have not had any problems with my machine. But I do take excellent care of my machine. I send mine in every year for a tune up whether it needs it or not I send it in at least once a year. My machine is pretty much being used each and every day. I just love the embroidery that my machine does. I am rather addicted to the embroidery end of my machine. For you can embroider on your clothes, make quilts, it's endless of the uses for this machine. Does an excellent job for making clothes as well. Also have no fear for the Singer Company stands behind their machines. But I do not think that the warranties are transferable. As for expensive repairs I have not had any expensive repairs. These machines do read pretty much all formats that are out there. So yes you can do embroidery designs in different formats. And there are plenty of free down loadable designs that you can get off the internet. The uses that I have found that I can now do on my machine seems to be endless. I also love all of the fancy stitches that are on the sewing end of this machine. A lot of the fancier stitches are really nice to add to edges of things instead of adding lace and other embellishments. Sewing machines have really come a very long way. These machines are nothing like the olden days where you sat and had to fiddle around with tensions and things in order to sew. NOT with these machines. It's really nice to just sit, push a button and sew. No fiddling with tensions. Just sit and sew. I can now sew on every fabric that is out there now, including knits. And everything that I have made, looks like it was professionally made. I also love the fact that these machines are also upgradeable as well. This machine will open up a whole new world of sewing for anyone that wants to sew. For this machine has done exactly that for me. And I mean it opened up a whole new world of sewing. Just endless of the things these machines can do. You too will be sew amazed at all the things you will be able to create with this machine. I think these machines are the very best on the market. I have been very satisfied with my machine but I did purchase mine brand new. There are also yahoo groups that are very helpful and with tons of information about these machines. And the people are very helpful if you do have a problem. Mostly you have to do the tutorials and read the manual to understand how to do the embroidery end of these machines. For they tell you how to embroider and step by step how to set machine up to embroider. Another plus to these machines is that if a thread happens to break while embroidering the machine will stop and beep and will tell you what is wrong right on your computer screen. You do however have to have the machine hooked up to a computer JUST for the embroidery end of this machine. You do not need it hooked up to a computer to use just the sewing end of this machine. I hope the info in this review really helps a lot of people. Get one of these machines and you will be sew amazed at what these machines, and your imagination can all create. For I know how much fun I have had in the past 3 years with my machine. I would never be able to part with my machine.Read full review
This is a good first machine for me. I will probably upgrade fairly soon though. It is a good learning tool, but has it's limitations. The hoop sizes is the biggest limitation. The stock designs that come with the machine are not very good quality, but I know you can get many more from the internet and also by purchasing additional design software. The only problem I have had this far is a bobbin running out just before my design was finished and I could not find information on how to restart the design after changing the bobbin. It was really a mess and I have a t-shirt with an unfinished embroidery design on the back. Luckily it was just for practice and on an old t-shirt. There was not information in the manual concerning this issue. I will keep researching it for future reference though. Overall, a very good starter embroidery machine!Read full review
I bought the Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine because I was looking for a machine that would also embroidery. I had been looking for a while at the machines. I have sewn for several years and love it!! It was time to update my current machine, close to 28 years old but still works great, also a Singer. I haven't tried the embroidery yet, as I am waiting to get a laptop to set on the counter beside me. Hope to get that soon !! I was amazed at all the different stitches that are available on it too. This machine came to me in great shape and it was a great price for me! I would do it all over again if I had the chance.
This machine works wonders. The best part of it that it reads all formats allowing me to use any free design I find and to change the size to fit. The more I use it the more I learn. I suggest reading postings on embroidery sites that give tips to help you understand the art of embroidery better and how to correct problems you may have. This machine is just waiting for you to feel comfortable enough to try what it already knows how to do. I couldn't be happier with this. I'm a get going person..start project then read instructions if I have a problem. This machine stops me and tells me what to check, hey even better. For the price it is excellent and does everything and more that I hoped it would. Try it you'll love it too.
The main thing when it comes to these machines is that the software you need in order to run it as an embroidery machine has long been outdated. If you have a windows xp computer I doubt you will have any issues installing the software and getting the thing operational, but if you don't then it takes some work. Singer has released updates for this particular machine to run on Windows 7, so that is what I had to do in order to make it work. Haven't tried it on Windows 10 so I can't say if it will work or not. You have to have the installation disk that originally came with the machine, an upgrade 2.5 disk that is bought separately, as well as an update download you get from the singer website for free. If you need the original software or the upgrade, there is someone selling the disks on ebay as of now Dec 2016. Follow the directions found on singers website for the order in which you do the installs and it works for Windows 7. Tried for 3 days to find a different solution and this was the only one that worked. But now that the software is running the machine works great!Read full review
