About this product

Product Information

The #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novel--now in trade paperback with the original mass market art. With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot--which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up once again in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human--and that there is a new queen on the board...

  • Cant wait to read it. But i gotta get the other one first before i can read

excellent author of books cant wait to get it. i didnt even know that she had came out with more book. i would def reccomend if you love books then you really need to read these. i still have 3 more of the books that i need to get but can only get them one at a time right now which stinks becasue i have to wait to get the other book first before i read this book becasue this book was the only one that i didnt get out bidded on. im pretty sure this book and the other four that i need to get will be as good as the first books that i have gotten. i have already read all the other sookie series books so im really excited to read this book

  • Don't waste your time, or at least wait until it's in paperback!

I bought Dead Reckoning hoping it could redeem the Southern Vampire Series, but even with the tie-in (mostly in name only from what I can tell!) to the HBO show True Blood, I think the series has run it's course. I would say the first maybe five or six books were worth reading but the quality of the characters and storyline has just been getting more and more inane. I think the best thing that Charlaine Harris could do if she really loves Sookie is to have Sookie and Sam get married, move somewhere that no one would even know they were a shape-shifter and telepath and have non-shifter (and hopefully) non-telepathic children. And maybe Bill could be their "Uncle Bill" throughout their long normal lives together. The only thing might possibly be better would be Bill and Sookie riding off ...

  • This series is about done with. This book stinks!! Very dull & not creative

Not a very good read!! It really leaves you hanging.. I won't say boring but it is very dull compared to her earlier works. Book 10 was sort of a flop as well but, it was 10 times better then this one. I waited a long time in getting this book and I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price for it or I would have been mad. If you want it wait until it comes out in paperback. It's not worth the cost of hardback. I am a true Eric fan but OMG this book sucked! Sorry to those that liked it but it felt very lacking to me.

  • Worth reading again and again.

My wife wanted the books and I wish I hadn't picked up the first one and read it after she was done. Like the other books in the series, it's a quick read, with between the line humor, double entendres and also addicting. Much better than the HBO series with fuller charactor development and plots. We don't want to have to wait for the next one. Buy the whole series and you'll find new nuggets with each rereading.

  • Harris doesn't disappoint with this one

I thought this was a pretty good book, a nice, easy read. I would have loved if it went a little bit further in the end, but it was definitely nice to see Sookie and Eric's relationship progress. I would recommend it to fans of the series. I was definitely sitting on the edge of my seat a few times.
