Once again Shrek does what other animations seem to fail to do these days and that is entertain the whole ratio of people that watch the film. I am talking about those in urban and rural societies. Sometimes people that create animated movies fail to realize that while these type of movies generally cater to the kids and the younger crowd in general, adults watch these movies as well. While they do feel obligated to watch the film with their kids, they should have a right to be entertained and intrigued by the movie as well. This is what Shrek the movie is all about and they continue that prestige with this third edition. There were many hilarious moments, but also some dull ones, which kind of made it a disappointing movie but entertaining nonetheless. I really don't think they should make any sequels as the story line with Shrek and his family can only go so far. But if they continue to make future movies, they should work on more unique jokes and pranks, as the ones they keep using are sort of running old in many people's minds. Overall, I have all 3 movies and appreciate watching them once in a blue moon for amusement. If you are thinking about getting the movie, only buy it if you liked the prior Shrek movies and are willing to see it more than 3 times in your lifetime. Otherwise just rent it and take it for what it is...Read full review
SarahT. 10 I don't know what those critics are saying about the movie. There not kids, so how would they know how funny it is. Sometimes I wonder if I'm alone with that opinon, but it's true. How would those paid critics know about how good the movie was. Me, I'm twelve and trust me, it was a so-so movie, but still made my friend and my dad laugh. I really don't agree with the critics in red because they're not kids, we are, and you know what?! I loved that movie. Any Shrek movie do for me. I was expecting to laugh more, but I still laughed no matter what those paid people say about a movie. The movie was good and thats all what counts. You just have to trust me. Go watch the movie, then go to the reviews and you'll see how wrong they are about the movie. Go watch it and you won't be sorry. The critics are just embarrassed that it's like Hollywood. Go watch it. Trust me.Read full review
My kids now range from 10-16 in age and they all loved Shrek 1 & Shrek 2. We had heard Shrek 3 was a let down but I could not see Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake or any other star in this movie letting Shrek 3 fail. Without giving everything away; Shrek3 is mainly about Prince Charming's attempt at gaining his kingdom back while Shrek struggles with the thought of being the future king of Far Far Away and becoming a daddy...in the future... Shrek 3 did not disappoint. It was just as funny as the first two, the story flowed well and the graphics keep getting more lifelike. Even my better half who really does not like kiddy movies, laughed out loud many times during the film. My 16 year old loved the Led Zeppelin and Heart music *redone by Fergie* moments. These films have a perfect mix of safe, clean, positive message, funny kid humor, mixed with things adults can find entertaining as well. It will definitely be a keeper in this house.Read full review
This movie from the Shrek series, had some really big shoes to fill, since Shrek 2 was very funny. Third, matched and in many ways, beat Shrek 2 out of the water. It's more than just a sequel, but an actual continuation of the story as it continues to grow like the audience. The writer's seem to have kept in mind that the Shrek series fans have grown with the story, and in Third, they threw in some adult humor. In kingdom of Far Far Away, they put up Hooters and crack jokes about baby making. A dream sequence from Shrek about little baby ogres flooding his home and destroying EVERYTHING, to him ending up at his graduation with nothing on except his graduation cap. I think many people have had dreams like that as they get closer to graduating. Plus Prince Charming, tries to live up to his name for his mother, The Fairy Godmother, only to eventually find himself just like her by the end of the story. This is a must buy to continue on the story of Shrek. If you have yet to see it, you wont be disappointed. You can easily start from Shrek and move on into Shrek 2 and then Shrek the Third. The story continues on including the same cuteness as the 2nd brought in. These movies are perfect for anyone of any age and is sure to make anyone laugh out loud.Read full review
