A strong argument can be made that Ian Hunter WAS Mott The Hoople. However, on this, their second release without him, a Hoople-less Mott cranks up the guitars another notch, ignoring the ominous shadow they were standing in. While Nigel Benjamin's high-end snarl is far removed from his predecessor's blokey, 'one of the boys' style, it is a perfect match for the tunes on offer here. Guitarist Ray Major shines throughout, aided by keysman Morgan Fisher, bass player Overend Watts, and the ever-steady 'Buffin' on drums. However, this would be their final release and the following year would see the group morphing into British Lions, losing Benjamin in the process.
