I bought this sewing table/desk, based upon the glowing reviews on eBay. How anyone can enjoy sewing with their machine on this sewing table is beyond my ability to understand. I have a Bernina 130, one of Bernina's best machine of the early 2000's, and it runs incredibly smoothly. However, sewing on this table, even at slower speeds, causes the table to oscillate uncomfortably. Increase speed a little, and the oscillations become so annoying that the machine begins to move across the table area designed to hold it, and I can no longer guide the fabric through the machine. All fasteners have been tightened and rechecked, and the table was assembled precisely in accordance with directions. However, there is inadequate lateral bracing to prevent the oscillations in either the front-to-rear or side-to-side directions, and there appear to be resonances throughout the table that enhance the oscillations at certain speeds. This table, while perhaps suitable for crafts, is most certainly unsuitable for use with sewing machines of any kind, and why other reviewers who cite the oscillations but still rate the table highly is beyond me! If you intend to use this table/desk for your sewing machine, don't waste your time or money. Pay a little more for a substantial sewing cabinet designed specifically for this task.Read full review

I bought this table to set up a small sewing center for my wife and it worked out nicely. The table and adjustable platform are made from 3/4 inch thick dense particle board with a hard white enamel like finish. What surprised me was that even the platform cut-out edges are smoothly finished in white. In fact the table and all edges have a smooth finish so fabric won't snag on them. All hardware was well packaged with different size screws and other fasteners blister packed onto a white cardboard sheet and each package was clearly identified with the correct hardware size. Assembly went quickly following the "step, 1-2-3 style with each step referring to a clearly marked drawing for the step involved. Two sets of hinges for the drop down end table section were plated and good quality. All pilot holes for the hinge screws were pre-drilled and in the correct location. You'll need a Philips head screw driver for the smaller wood screws. The two support leg assemblies are heavy steel and welded to their top table support brace and bottom floor rails. The rails have adjustable plastic bumpers for leveling and to prevent marring a non-carpeted floor. Four plastic end plugs are factory installed in the floor rails. The bolts are screwed into threaded thick nylon fasteners embedded into the table. The black grilled shelf and back are heavy steel and need to be bolted into place. When assembled this shelf adds a great deal of rigidity and prevents the table from wobbling. Take your time when starting all machine bolts into the threaded nylon inserts. Using the supplied small Allen wrench makes it a little bit more difficult to capture the threads. If it's taking too much effort to tighten the bolt, back it out and make sure it's going in straight. Don't use oil on the bolt threads. It will compromise the strength of the joint. A small wrench is supplied for tightening nuts securely. I should also note that the semi gloss black finish appears to be baked on with a fine crackle texture. Two heavy steel brackets that bolt to threaded table inserts are designed for easy height adjustment and leveling of a sewing machine when it's sitting on the smaller drop down table top. Adjustments have enough range to level the drop down table top surface with the large table for other uses. The only part of the assembly that didn't go perfectly for me was installation of the U shaped rod that supports the hinged end table section and allows it to fold down. I had to reshape it slightly to correctly fit the ends into their receiving holes on the inside surface of the legs. To use the end table section, you just lift it and insert the support rod into a snap in bracket under the table. It's level with the rest of the table and sturdy. I wouldn't try sitting on the fold up section but it was pretty rigid when I pushed down on it with my upper body weight. I spent some time on this review because I think this table is well designed in terms of assembly ease and overall functionality. It's well finished, sturdy, fairly priced and serves its intended purpose. And when it comes right down to it the most important thing for me is that my wife loves it. Highly recommended.Read full review

Thought this would have been the ideal sewing table when purchased. The table moves and bounces when I pick up sewing speed. Learned to have to slow down or bounce the fabric around as I am sewing. Good for small spaces and maybe a student.

Table works perfect with my Janome 7700 sewing machine. It did have one minor tear in the top surface but nothing that I can't live with. I still think it's a great value and would highly recommend it for someone looking for a sewing table.

Directions were great...you will need a good Allen wrench...they give you one in the packet..but a lot easier if you have a good one...well worth the money...the table is great!!!!
